  • it seems all the great ones die young, they leave behind the losers

  • Who?

  • did he win?

  • @ableach22 Yes. He was one of the leading liberal advocates in the Senate before his tragic death in '02.

  • @ableach22 Wellstone won 2 Senate terms and died right before winning the third term.

  • check out the video:

    Dropping like flies (raytheons gun)

did you know paul was one of 5 internal political assassinations using planes in the last decade.

planes are the lone gunman of the 2000's and no one knows it.

    RIP

    John F. Kennedy Jr. 1999

    Mel Carnahan 2000

    Paul Wellstone 2002

    Michael Connell 2008

    Beverly Eckert 2009

  • i miss senator wellstone. i met him in 1997, in tampa. i was at the state democratic convention. anyway, we were having supper, and he came over to see my then 2 y/o son, because he and his wife thought he was adorable. they sat at our table, ate dinner with us, and we just had a really nice conversation. he was one o f the good guys.

  • @tranurse Why would anyone want to murder JFK Junior? Poor piloting, no instrument rating, dark skies and a coked up wife who was late killed him. Wellstone and Carnahan I can buy--but fluffing out the list to make it seem more portentious is just asinine.

  • i don't think anyone murdered jfk jr. my husband does. i think wellstone may have been, and maybe even carnahan, but jfk was a bad accident. and phranquegallo was the one who said that.

  • @tranurse Sorry--I pushed the wrong button. I agree with your POV re: Wellstone and Carnahan. I just can't get behind ascribing every air accident to nefarious motives.

  • Only if...

  • what a witty guy

  • There was another commercial showing Wellstone going to his opponent's campaign offices and borrowing their pens because his campaign couldn't afford any.

    RIP Paul, we miss you.

  • Do you have the "Looking For Rudy" ad?

  • Thanks for the Post...sure Miss Him but His Words and Actions will Live On!..Thanks

  • Hopefully they wont!

  • Sorry but if they have any "brains" they will!...looks like you just read the news you don't Make it!...Ha Ha....puppets make good boys!...yea right!..only brainwashed Rebublicans!..Lol!...I Honor Paul Wellstone because "He Honored People" you only honor the media which is quite biased!...da!..

  • The media is quite biased to radical leftits. The probelm with liberals is they think they are the only ones with "brains".

  • Not really if you examine closely.

  • Can you give me an example?

  • The Muslims are rather Right Wing also....I live in Florida now and the News Media is appears anti liberal a few Rush wantabees like, they say the Liberals are to blame for the World Problems funny i read a comment that their are not very many real liberals left most are Middle Ground...Paul Wellstone was...He was not as liberal as some think...he had All People in Mind thou does that make him wrong?....

  • Paul Wellstone had people in mind that could keep him in power. Taking wealth that others earned and giving it to other people. Paul Wellstone had a strange idea that if someone was succsessful that they are wrong and evil and should be leveled down to the masses. Thats not America.

  • Can you provide me an example not counting Fox news.

  • Their was a guy named Hitler that only had one race in mind. Bin Laddin has only one religion in mind and the Right Wing has similar interests...Its the Middle Ground Compromise for the All the Good of People. Did you ever now Paul Wellstone ever talk with him?...I met him face to face he had the look of a honest caring person and the brains of one really...the Energy for Life Learning Understanding...He lived It!..

  • What race does the right wing have in mind? What evidence is that? I could say the same for the left. Paul Wellstone was not a middle ground compromise. He was a radical 60s leftist from the Woodstock era who wanted to make the USA a socialistic state. I too met Paul Wellstone, I wasnt as star struck as you are. I found him phony.

  • Do You have Evidence that Paul wanted a Socialist State. Its going to be anyways because of Population only so many people can profit maybe he could think outcomes. Paul was not Communist if thats what your referring to. Those days are gone.

  • Read Professor Wellstone goes to Congress, its a good book.

  • Explain this then Namzso1 if the media is liberal they how does GWB stay in power (by misinformation) the funny the the Public still thinks their are Weapons of Mass Distruction in Iraq...are they listening to some rather radical Right Wing Organizations

  • Majority of Americans disapprove of the war because no weapons of mass destruction were found. What polls are you reading?

  • True, but you didn't realise how the media covered it at the beginning, did you? You know, the Scott Ritter thing?

  • The whole country was pro war, I guess Hillary and John Kerry are right wing because they were spouting the same things as the supposed right wing media. By that statement you conceed it is not right wing media now.

  • This proves that there is no liberal bias, as Ritter was a Republican. Did you realise how much criticism he got (and most of it not even related to the issue)?

  • Look at Dan Rather, he is suppose to be a unbiased news anchor and look at all the things he said and did. Thats just a small example of the big network journalism, look at major newspaper colunists, how many are right wing? Liberal bias in big media.

  • Wrong: examine MSNBC. Tucker Carlson and Joe Scarborough easily balance out Keith Olbermann (if the bias did not go the other way).

  • So where does Chris Mathews fit in? He is a total leftie. You probably think Fox news is biased right?

  • lol... yeah, it is. Actually, they are blatantly open with it now.

  • You only say that because Fox does not adapt to the leftist thinking of CNN, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, The New York Times, and all the other left biased news media.

You feel MSNBC is fair and centrist?

  • I find it difficult to believe that any large and powerful corporation would hold "leftist" beliefs. Perhaps you don't quite understand what leftism is. ALL major corporate networks are right-leaning (with some exceptions, like Olbermann), but FOX is just more blatant.

  • The parent company may have right leaning ties, but the news organizations are leftist.

  • @azegas Olbermann isn't a network. He's an individual, on a subsidiary of a network that is watched by --not millions--but hundreds of thousands. The NBC franchise knows how to play the Bread and Circus game.

  • Matthews is a former Democrat who voted for Bush at least once. While he's against the Iraq War, he's been pretty tough on Democrats and he endorsed a lot of the popular lies about Al Gore back in 2000.

  • Ok, and Chris Wallace is a registered Democrat.

  • Yeah, so's Zell Miller and a majority of registered voters in Oklahoma. It doesn't mean much: they might be registered Democrats, but they haven't voted Democratic in quite some time.

  • Tweety loves George Bush and he's good friends with Tom DeLay. Hardly sounds like a left-winger to me. True, he used to be a Democratic staffer, but that was decades ago. His boss, Jack Welch, has openly bragged about getting Tweety to do what he's told. And Welch is certainly no liberal.

  • @azegas Jack Welch has not been Tweety's boss for eons. He's retired. The NBC franchise is firmly in the White House sphere of influence. Don't you remember Brian Williams kissing butt in his "exclusive" interview with Pres. Obama? They've Come To Jesus (or Barack) since the Bush Days--they simply want ACCESS, and they'll do what needs doing to get it. The GOP NBC is in hiding, for now. Tweety is a moderate to conservative Dem--not a progressive. He never was one, though.

  • They are. And anyone who has a longstanding mancrush on John McCain and voted for Bush in 2004 is hardly a "total lefty."

  • Careful now, I think you have your ideologies a bit messed up here. What I would describe as 'liberalism' in the US is a strange mixture of social liberalism and social democracy, which are both center-left ideologies. Radical leftists are typically more along the lines of revolutionary Marxists', which practically do not exist in the US. 'Liberalism' is a much more mild ideology than some would have you think; e.g. It is considered centrist in most European countries.

  • Not having known anything about Sen. Wellstone, this looks like he was a cool guy, as in, he was still a real, down-to-earth person and politician. Thanks for posting this

  • I believe his intentions initially were good. But he became a Washington politician fast.

  • i am so happy that this creeps plane crashed..he was bad for america and is having some HOT tea with the devil now!

  • he was in the running to be the democratic nominee for 2004. he would have beaten coleman for the mn senate seat and given bush a very good run for the presidency.

  • In a paralell universe

  • much cleaner copy of this is part of "Wellstone 1990 campaign part 1" and there is an interview with the ad guy in "Wellstone 1990 campaign part 2"

  • Sen. Paul Wellstone was and still is my hero. For anyone interested in his life and his stance towards social justice, please do yourself a favor and read his book, "The Conscience of a Liberal." Also, you can view a wonderful speech of his (including q and a) at the Harvard IPO--the title of the event was: "The Unfinished Agenda: Race, Poverty and Gender in America." If anyone has more videos of Wellstone's speeches, etc., please post them. Thanks.

  • I saw Wellstone speak agains the "War on Drugs". I asked him about the influence of the Military Industrial Complex on policy making and he said it was huge. In his speach he also talked about internal elites making a huge profit on the drug trade. I should have known he was bound to be assesinated but is hard to imagine events around you will be history when you are part of them

  • Assasinated? you dont look at the flying conditins that day , and the hurry up atmosphere of the campaine, you need to get a life

  • Assesinated.

  • To gnxnational: There were many people in this country calling for an investigation into the death of Senator Paul Wellstone. The fact remains that he was one of the most powerful and vocal opponents in the run up to the Iraq War.

  • Yeah the people calling for a investigation are former LSD consumers form the 60s

  • That we do. The Bush Crime family murdered him though since he would've done a lot of good to put a stop to their evil plans.

  • We need Paul so much, hes alive in our hearts.

  • The senate is better off without him.
