They ignored warning signs, they shirked safety regulations, they convinced government not to include them in standard EPA checks. So yes, absolutely their responsibility.
On a personal level: No, I don't drive, I don't use any lighting except in the room I'm in, I eat meat sporadically, I don't leave anything on standby, the only real energy I use is the computer's.
