Whether or not there was a 'happy' ending to the anime, they still passed their final moments together in peace & watching the sunset, before moving onto a world where there was no war, pain, or sorrow..only life eternal together in their paradise. <3

This anime is so dark and tragic in every way, it's proof that evil (or crime) does pay. The truth simply hurts at times.

I feel so sorry for people who think anime is just cartoons with tentacle rape and special powers... It's series like this, Record of Lodoss War, Outlaw Star, Scrapped Princess, Shadow Skill etc etc that make me cry because they are works of art that most people will never get the chance to enjoy because they are close minded and miss out on so much because of it...... :/
I always knew that this time would come, proven by the fact that when I really thought about it I would cry... actually watching the last episode I couldn't hold back and it would have been rude of me to hold back in light of such an important and emotional event. Atleast they were able to die the way I want to go. Beside the love of my life, watching the sunset, and on the front porch of a little cottage in the middle of nowhere. I will never forget those two.
Having now read the manga as well overall I prefer the anime version overall. IMO stronger and more emotional story than manga. Also more unique ending(not just this scene but overall how the story ends) than manga. Just MO of course.

@DeerJumper101 He(or should he be called it being daemon and all?) was mortally wounded and low on astral energy. Rosette offered to open the seal which would transfer her remaining life energy to him that would allow him to heal himself. But out of love of her he turned that down prefering to die instead(and probably die more peacefully. If life is painful due to contract I figure death isn't peaceful either if seal is fully open when it happens).
Meh, a good series overall, the ending hmm not that great (doesn't mean the dying part is not great) I guess they could make the plot line more sensational/sentimental/emotional w/e rather than just the ending
@TheDarkLatias950 not the first anime version, the remake of fullmetal I was extremely satisfied with its ending. This is double that sad though, even beats Witchblade.... and hey, ya don't have to use the language, yeesh.

I think the real part where everyone got goosebumps and started crying like little girls was at 2:34. That one line made the ending 1000x sadder. to this day i still get googlyeyed by that part.
Although this show is religiously controversial, I liked it. The show had some horrifying / gory / insane parts, but other parts made up for that. The ending made me cry. No anime has ever done that.

Yeah, Chrono dies. His wounds were uber serious. Even if Rosette had opened the seal again, he wouldn't have lived and if he had lived, he'd have killed himself because he loves her so much. Also, Azmaria wrote that on the tomb stone. And that was the gayest ending of all time!!

@DeerJumper101 He(or should he be called it being daemon and all?) was mortally wounded and low on astral energy. Rosette offered to open the seal which would transfer her remaining life energy to him that would allow him to heal himself. But out of love of her he turned that down prefering to die instead(and probably die more peacefully. If life is painful due to contract I figure death isn't peaceful either if seal is fully open when it happens).

Meh, a good series overall, the ending hmm not that great (doesn't mean the dying part is not great) I guess they could make the plot line more sensational/sentimental/emotional w/e rather than just the ending

I do not know whether this is pathetic, but I cannot watch this, but I am able to listen this sad ending... There isn´t always happy endings, that´s why it´s very sad... I almost cry every time when I see this. BUT! It was one of the best series, thanks to Daisuke Moriyama :)

I think the real part where everyone got goosebumps and started crying like little girls was at 2:34. That one line made the ending 1000x sadder. to this day i still get googlyeyed by that part.

Although this show is religiously controversial, I liked it. The show had some horrifying / gory / insane parts, but other parts made up for that. The ending made me cry. No anime has ever done that.

I watched this years ago, and it made me depressed for a couple of days. Though I do admit, I was bawling my eyes out. The video here with the song makes it even sadder. Of course, I think I've grown a resistance to sad animes. =) I only hyperventilate a little and I'm over it in no time.

Yeah, Chrono dies. His wounds were uber serious. Even if Rosette had opened the seal again, he wouldn't have lived and if he had lived, he'd have killed himself because he loves her so much. Also, Azmaria wrote that on the tomb stone. And that was the gayest ending of all time!!

@Killu61 wait as far as i knew Chrno was a demon trapped in that Tombstone how did he go to heaven i mean yeah he did something the other Demons didnt want him to do he wanted to turn his life around and Protect Rosette even at the cost of his own life he didnt want her to die when he was hit in the back
