Luke 14:25 Now great crowds accompanied him, and he turned and said to them, "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.
Part of the problem is that most people, including Christians don't believe there is a devil or demons. To even mention them turns people off, therefore a person who is demonized is seen as nothing other than a chemical problem in need of a pill. Who is casting out demons these days? Most would not know one if it slapped them.
Oh my...who are these guys talking? Quite interesting that they sound more like pharisees. Joes Osteen is not my fav preacher..actually, I find him quite boring BUT I think u guys are taking some things waayy to the other extreme. It is people like these that makes many turn away from christians, then church and then God. Remember, Jesus said: Let Him without sin cast the first stone AND also: Why are you worried about the spec in your brother's eye when there is a plank in your own eye?
@rockysmile2 Satan quoted scripture plenty too.. and seeing just how much you take those passages out of context in ordor to make your point I can't say you're quoting God's word any better.
Philippians 2:12 "Therefore, my beloved,as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with FEAR AND TREMBLING, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure."
Lane.. HELP! God showed me the truth, but my wife will not accept it. She is at the "favor of God" Pentecostal deal. I am slipping away, but dont want a divorce over the deal. See Pentecostals dont focus on the submissive wife thing... and thats the beginning of the issue.
The Church in America I think have forgotten what Jesus did to bring us this Joy. We have forgotten about our sin that put Jesus on that Cross. We want to focus on the glorification of Man rather than the Glory of God. God died for us and we have joy yes but "not as the prime product but as a byproduct". (Paris Reidhead)
Think they made some great points. I went to church yesterday and had some real difficulty worshipping because, unbelievably, the songs had little to do with God and more to do with getting the worshippers pumped-up. The songs that did focus on God were shallow and repetitive.
When God started breaking me of my pride and sin, one of the things I HAD to do was stay away from these sorts of places because the nonchalant, "oh, whatever" attitude provided a means for me to given into temptation without me being convicted that there would be immediate repercussions, too, and I would fall right back into the things I was trying to overcome and flee.
ur all fucking mentalists, we have one life here, so live it!!!!
