  • Good stuff. Can you suggest to me a good place to learn how to write to a 64x128 GLCD? Like what pins to control, how to control them, etc? I tried every where and cant any good information...nothing, there stuff out there for charecter LCD but not much on GLCD....the datasheets dont help that much either. Really stuck...appreciate any suggestions to where I can find more info. Many thanks.

  • Just wondering how you setup the ports, I'm using a pci parallel port card, I looked on the LCD studio website but its just got all this confusing about settings.xml so how did you set it up and find out what ports to use?

  • Make sure this option is on. LcdStudio -> Options -> Plugins -> KS0108. This is Driver for the KS0108 Controller Chipset. ;)

There is another option in the Display Wizard. We're using LPT port and KS0108 chipset GLCD for this application. Display Wizard helps you to configure the paralel port.

  • Connect GLCD to the paralel port. After that give 5VDC to the GLCD and execute the LcdStudio. Open Display Wizard. Choose next. Select "KS0108 based 128x64 LCD on paralel port" and next. Select I/O port. (for ex. 0x378 standard) Rotation settings will appear. Select what you need and press next. After that you should see "Welcome to LCDStudio 2.0" text on the GLD. Press next. Choose "Yes i can read the welcome message" and press next again. Configuration is over. Have fun...

  • If you have any problem after that, check your connections and GLCD chipset. I don't know is there any driver for other chipsets. Look at LCDStudio's web page.

  • You must learn your paralel port address. Check it from device manager. Right click on "My Computer" select "properties". After that select "Hardware" tab. Find your PCI card device and learn address. You will use this address for display wizard

  • Thanks for the help mate, just bought my KS0108 off Ebay, just need to wire it now and test it with LCDStudio. Cheers

  • be careful about wiring. Check twice. Don't burn it out :))

    Good Luck...

  • I meant the graphic lcd, I'm in New Zealand so parts are a bit hard to get but Ive looked on Ebay and found some glcd's but I don't hav any experience in programming so could you please help me out. I find your lcd quite impressive and would like to know what to get to get it running etc (right lcd). Thanks for the help.

  • Well. I have used LCD Studio (pc program running on LPT port)for this GLCD. If you want to buy GLCD, you must choose the controller chips are KS0108 and KS0107 on the GLCD. Especially KS0108 supports by LCD Studio. Unfortunately new mainborads haven't got COM(serial) or LPT(paralel) port. This is not a full electronic project. GLCD drives by LCD Studio.

  • For details look at the "About This Video" (more info)

  • This lights are cold cathodes for PC not neon lamps. They were transparent. But I have covered three of them with colorful nylon. I use to used them with the external power supply out of my computer. You can find this lights everywhere. Coolermaster, thermaltake etc. If you want to use them out of your computer you must find the 12V / 1A power supply. If you know electronic you can make this power supply by yourself.

  • Could you tell me how to set one of those up for myself?
