@RCM1829 It's a display rifle. Every firearm in SHOT Show must be deactivated meaning the firing pin or firing mechanism must be removed. Vendors displaying firearms accessories often times attach them to display guns that are inert so they don't have jump through the hoops of having their rifles inspected for safety.
Love at first sight! Did the field of view getting really small above 14X setting? Seems to me like it would have to to be able to operate at such power extremes...
@YourMilageMayVary The FoV does narrow, but you would only use it at extreme ranges so it all evens out. The glass was amazingly clear and seeing the fine details of the steel target I was shooting at on the 1000 yard line was easy. This is the best scope I've ever handled, and it's still a prototype.
@Sturmgewehre Looks like the ideal setup for it. I just set up a Savage 110 in 300WM wearing a EGW 20 MOA rail with 30mm Burris. Hope to get past the 700m mark with it.
I think people are retarded when they say "ya its worth every penny" bullshit! Most overpriced scopes arent worth half what they are priced at. Just because the glass is clear and it will hold zero is nothing special. I have plenty of $200 scopes that work great , have clear glass and hold zero on heavy recoil. This is for sure a nice scope though, but people please stop saying that $5000 dollars for a scope is "worth every penny" they just price them high because dumb asses will pay for it.
@freestylmx311 So? A honda civic will get me from point A to point B just fine. Are the bugatti veyrons therefore worthless? Anyone can recognize that there is a point of diminishing returns, but if you want the fastest/most technically advanced of ANYTHING, you are going to pay a significant premium. This is true pretty much regardless of which industry you look at. And you are kidding yourself if you think any 200$ scope is every bit as good as this hensoldt will probably be.
I did a google search for this scope and nothing relevant came up. Is this even on the market yet? Who is the manufacturer, I heard you reference Zeiss, but the title says Hensoldt. I would like to buy one of these for my special edition X-Bolt in .325 WSM so any help would be appreciated.
@MrByronodmon I know, but I'm finally learning that its actually a smart decision to spend more on a scope than a rifle. A decent rifle will almost always out shoot the operator if a low-quality scope is used. I've been using a Leupold CDS 4.5-14x40mm scope and it works fine but I want something a little nicer for my X-bolt since it can easily shoot 1" groups out to 300 yrds with high magnification. I think I'll get a cds dial for my Rock River LAR-15 and move it to that rifle instead.
@TheeBedazzler I totally agree with the saying "your gun is only as good as your scope" but I personally don't have $5000 to spend the most expensive scope I have is $400! I wish I could afford more and maybe one day i'll get some balls and buy a $1000 scope! It's gotta last a lifetime or until I make more money lol!
@MrByronodmon Try the Leupold CDS. It has decent magnification for shots out to 200-300 yards, comes with two free custom bullet drop compensation dials, and costs like $400-500. It would be a perfect scope for an AR or any hunting rifle for that matter.
@ETHRON1 It is a tank. I would rather have this scope over all others on the market. That scope with the AX338 rifle literally gave me goosebumps to shoot. At 1000 yards it made center of mass hits effortless with the .338 Lapua round. If only I could find an extra $10k laying around to put that combo in my safe...
From what I have seen it is $4000. THe CR123 feature is something that I have been screaming about for a long time. This feature should be standard on any tactical scope. Man if I only had 4k.
I just bought a Schmidt 5-25 with the H2CMR reticle, now I'm going to need this when it hits the civvie market. Oh well, at least I bought a Schmidt before the price hike hit :)
wow, what a nice scope...and awesome rifle as well, i can see why the longest confirmed kill was achieved using an accuracy international.

@southparkkid278 And it's probably worth every penny if you've got the appropriate rifle and shooting application.
There really is no substitute for good optics. I've been shown that on numerous occasions.
