This bassline is so epic and groovy, I have to keep listening to it over and over and over. Geddy Lee rules at the bass and sings while playing it, which never ceases to amaze me. But he never makes my ass shake as hard as this bassline does!
One of the many fantastic musicians that are in the Blockheads - Norman is truly an amazing musician. The only "rock" bassist I would compare him too would be John Entwistle, who is sadly missed from the Who.
Got to agree with the last post I saw him last night he is quite simply the BEST bass guitar player in the world no one comes close. It dosent matter who you put him up arainst from jazz blues funk or rock he is head and shoulders above the rest
there is a film coming out on the blockheads next year...watch out for the guy who plays norman his wicked ! its going to be must seen film for norman fans
you know nothing. if not for bass players of norms abillity and talent plank slappers like harris would never have picked up a bass. iron maiden? dont make me laugh, seen them 6 times live and they got worse each time.
Its a whole experience with Norman. To watch him play that bass, strutting around and really getting into the music really makes the songs come alive, let alone the brilliant music he makes!
as muchas i love geddy lee, there different playing styles make it impossible to decide who is better...i mean, norman might not be able to play like geddy, but if you were to put geddy lee in wilko or the blockheads...do you really think it would have the same groovy feel??
Was him play this little solo bit with the Blockheads yesterday. Brilliant.

But Norman is'nt rock, he's Jazz/Funk. Steve and Geddy aren't as old, let alone experienced, as Norman!!

@SaptaSwaraa Its defiantly Jaco style with a Watt-roy feel

@derrymadness If you listen closely, Norman quotes a bit of Teen Town in Rythm Stick.
