Wow , the year before i left SkOol ! - I used to live in the house next to where Tom Evans lived and a neighbour who knew him told me lots of storys about the band etc, and how he got to write the song 'WITHOUT YOU' about his beautiful wife - 'aPpy~daZe' - sigh ! - :)
Things and the world speak out about Amy Winehouse who was a drug addict and bozzer, yet she did it to herself, yet Tom had so much talent in his baby finger that Amy could never even get near. His is a tragic story and along with Peter Ham, used and thrown away so someone that trustrd, used and took there talent. R.I.P. peace Tom and Peter. Your music will live forever.
So sad, such talent, KILLED by some uselest piece of a person. Happy moment will live forever, yet taken away by such a low life. R.I.P. Tom Evans. And Badfinger: Love the band, then and now
Oh my lord .. I've just read a book about Badfinger , they had the world at their feet , but it all went so tragically wrong ... who would have thought . Very moving footage.
I often mull in my thoughts with this song in the background. It helps me unlock the intertwined tangles of my complex life. Nothing is better than cooking some salmon in foil over a fireplace with this song in the background, downing some bottles of red wine and escaping the realities of life. Pete Ham & Tom Evans are with me in spirit, playing that acoustic guitar and letting it all go. ROCK ON BADFINGER !!!!!!!!!!
Is that Anne Fergueson, her son Blair, and Bev standing together at the church door waiting for Tom and Marianne to come out?? I know it is Anne and Blair - not sure about Bev.
@catoohey She looks like the woman Pete wrote "Lonely You" for. Zoey, if I remember correctly. I'm not sure if it is, but her photo was in "Without You: the Tragic Story of Badfinger", and it kind of looks like her.
Just one is left? Even evil Pollan is dead. Maybe it is all fate-like nothing could have changed what happened. LIke this film-play it over and over and it wont change. Like Life.
Weren't the other 2 members of Badfinger fueding or something? I hope they can put any differences they have behind them. Those 2 are survivors adn really need each other in these times of trouble. BadFinger is something they will never be able to erase from thier lives and all the good and bad you need people to back you up in it. The fighting doesn't do anyone. Them the fans or anyone any good for them to carry on like that and fued.
What a great song & what a great time. Badfinger is without a doubt one of the greatest bands ever. Tom and Pete were amazing writers and singers. This song shows what a great writer Tom was.
What a shame that we lost both Tommy and Pete in such a tragic way & we lost them way too soon! They both had a lot of great songs still in them and most of all, they both left their family and friends way too soon.
Great video of their wedding. The song seems to have been written for this video.
@malibu5967 I doubt it would be Marianne Faithfull Tom's wife Marianne is I believe German.Marianne Faithfull was born in England but her mother was from Austria.
Its amazing how different times were back in the 70s. There were big thinkers back then, people were so carefree and open to new ideas. People had the time to explore the grey areas in life, to stop beside the road and smell the flowers. Thesedays everyone is so focussed on their ipods and INSTANT gratification. How I wish the 70s could return. This video really captures the magic of those "egalitarian" times. Love it !! (Great song too I might add).
I wonder if its just coincidence that the name "Marianne" also appears in a song from Boston's "More than a Feeling", at around the same time, in the 70's. Could it be the same Marianne?
Thank you for presenting such a video,it was most pleasing to see this special time for Tom.Could Pete have been doing the video? i,d say yes because he often had a movie camera in his travels and wasnt in actually in it.Such rarities like this truly worth finding as Badfinger were good, such good people.
How precious this footage is! Now I can keep in my mind a beautiful image of Tommy looking genuinely happy and relaxed. And "When I Say" is probably the nicest tune that Tommy ever wrote.
Is that Richard Dilello at 2:43? Apple 'house hippie', photographer of the No Dice & Straight Up album covers/gatefold, author of The Longest Cocktail Party...
Wow, I wanna marry Marianne! As described in the book this was a wedding that almost wasn't. Tommy got himself into trouble over another girl and M moved out. T soon realized his mistake and begged for M to come back and get married. Luckily she forgave him and said yes! :) Thanks for this rare, wonderful footage!
Beautiful footage. "When Is Say" !! What a great song and perfect for this, since written around that time. Hope this brings happy memories to you, Marianne Evans. So sorry what Joey Molland has put your family through.
Great footage - It is nice to see someone who respects their work and gets their permission before posting it. I'm getting tired of all the bootleggers out there, so it is nice to see your post. Thank you for sharing Badfinger with us.
Thank you so much for posting Tom and Marianne's wedding. I would enjoy seeing more home movies of the band in everyday life. I read the book and this video makes it come to life. Thanks again!
yea, pete filmed this. not a bad filmmaker i must say, from seeing a bunch of clips from the vh1 documentary. wish we could see more from pete the cameraman. ;-(
Thanks for sharing this happy moment in Tom & Marianne's life. Do you have Mike & Gaynor Gibbins' and Joey & Kathie Molland's wedding videos you can also share?
There is no home movie footage for Gibbins wedding that has turned up. The few brief clips of the Mollands wedding that still exist had unfortunately been bootlegged and spread across the internet, which I'm sure already have a copy of. This various home movie footage is owned and copyrighted by the Ham and Evans Estates, which they approve for use.
Lovely, absolutely lovely!!!! Thanks a great deal for coming across this clip. I must admit, I always find it quite inspiring to watch anything to do with Badfinger. I hope you do, too?
It's great to see Tom and Marianna's wedding again. They were sweet days when hair just grew! Everyone just said what they felt and great songs filled our air. Thanks for finding those good memories and making them live forever.
