Muy buena canción con letras que a mi punto de vista, hablan de un rechazo a la religión. claro, es mi punto de vista, cualquiera podrá interpretarlo de muchas formas.

I didn't know the names of my father or uncles or any of that side of my family until i met them, when I was thirteen. My older sister still doesn't know who her father's side of the family is. She possibly never will. Who knows? But it's not unheard of to not know your family when your family is broken before you realize what brokenness is, and before you're allowed to know all of who you are.

Althought after thinking it out a bit, it does have both meanings. But I think 'the darkness' is what fits best in the song and is what they meant.
