My best guess is that you would feel a little like allienating them for not going in the direction in their life that you deem best for them. A man must be worthy and able to enter into this covenant. This would even out the imbalance in the gender ratio.

A concubine is basically a wife with less rights. Under Jesus, it is not thinkable to take a woman to treat her like trash. In the Old Testament, divorce was permitted, but under Jesus, it is not permitted. The only valid argument against polygamy is the law of the land. Christians are told in the Bible to obey the law of the land, as long as it does not directly oppose God. God does not COMMAND to practise polygamy, therefore Christians should not practise it, if the law of the land forbids it.
What you need, Chuck, more than many wives, is to repent of your sins, to change your ways, and follow Jesus. Anyone who does not believe in Jesus is going to hell. Polygamy might have some practical benefits, in some cases, on this earth. But the most important issue is where you are going, after you die. Im from a Polygamist family. my parents live it. and i have lived a perfectly normal life. i dont live in some kind of shut off place. I went to public school, did cheer leading, had lots of different friends. went and did what i wanted with who i wanted.
About the girl who spoke of her sisters leaving the community but coming back... I wonder how much of it was because it is really better living in their controlled religious community, and how much was because they were unprepared to deal with the outside world.
They lack the resources and training to survive in a secular college or hold ordinary jobs. I don't see them coping in what we call "the real world", but this doesn't mean they returned home because they were truly happier there.
I don't know that I really want more than the woman I've got now, but I respect the rights of these families, and I think that one girl is really wise, this insane world don't hold up a match to the simple, family oriented lifestyle of our ancestors.
I thought it was hilarious that the interviewer said she became the person she had become as the result of the "people she'd experienced." In other words, she thinks that the girls are missing out because they don't get to f*ck around. My best guess is that you would feel a little like allienating them for not going in the direction in their life that you deem best for them. Of course, people point to the "Render uton Ceasar..." statement from Jesus, but that scripture can also be interpreted as to render to God what is God's, which is our loyalty to the commandments and morals of the prophets. polygamy just doesnt work. if a lot of women are married to a small number of men, then there are a lot of men left in society and all the women are married off, a large percentage of young men leave the community because all the women are 'taken'

A man must be worthy and able to enter into this covenant. This would even out the imbalance in the gender ratio.

I tested the Bible, and what I have tested so far, I have found AMAZINGLY, TRUE. A concubine is basically a wife with less rights. Under Jesus, it is not thinkable to take a woman to treat her like trash. In the Old Testament, divorce was permitted, but under Jesus, it is not permitted. The only valid argument against polygamy is the law of the land. Christians are told in the Bible to obey the law of the land, as long as it does not directly oppose God. God does not COMMAND to practise polygamy, therefore Christians should not practise it, if the law of the land forbids it.

Thanks for totally closing your eyes to my questions. It would require logic and intellectual honesty to attempt it, and I'm sure your religous indoctrination has rendered you unable to use these abilities. I'm sure they are all quite proud that they have turned you into nothing more than a parrot.

Im sorry it is all about controlling carnal desires as the natural man is an enemy to God. Neither fooling around or having multiple spouses is the "correct" way of living in society. A family unit is typically made up of one man and one woman. Anything other than this creates confusion and catastophic world....the wrath of God is upon them not my words only God's words.

How about articles of faith #12. We believe in obey honoring and sustaining law of every land. I understand the history behind polygamy as hello I am mormon. I guess I have problem with your religion branching off mine and taking "certain" truths with you while practicing bad things that the original LDS church dont practice anymore yet get the jab for it because of obvious reasons...you guys use our doctrine and make us look like we share the same "exact" beliefs when we don't!

But when Jesus came, he did away with the war-faring of God's people. Since Jesus came, true christians have not engaged in wars, or persecuted anyone. The alliance between the apostate church and the roman empire was NOT christian, and they KEPT persecuting the bible believing, non-violent christians. If you read the new testament you will see that all christians martyred died praying for their captors, and none did any harm to his enemies. When people do different, they don't follow the N.T.

Speaking of following the NT, you're only supposed to have one wife. The polygamy thing was OT, along with concubines, slavery, etc. Now, personaly, I'm all for messing w/ two or more women : ) But how do you, as a Christian, cherry pick the parts you like of the OT and dismiss the rest?

The NT has no command whatsoever forbidding polygamy. But it expressly tells you to love your enemy, when in the OT God had told us to HATE our enemies. So it is not that I am picking things that I like from the OT. Jesus expressly disallows us to hate enemies, and to give back bad for bad. We should give good, in return for bad, now, since God gave us good (forgiveness), in return for bad (our many sins). Now, I defend polygamy, and I am monogamous. BECAUSE....(continues)

There is, but more to my point- if polygamy is still on the menu of holy goodies, are concubines and slaves still OK, too? And can we still sell slaves as property and beat them as long as they don't die within two days?

Anybody who has not read the entire KJV, is most likely brain-stained, and needs to get brainwashed. Get right!. Get informed before talking. The right to religious freedom is something dear to Americans. Who are you to kidnap other people's children? Who are you, to use violence to enforce your views? You must live, and let live. If you disagree with something, TEll them, respectfully, but DONT USE VIOLENCE. Stop religious persecution by the government. Read your entire Bibles!

Ok ... See this is how I think of it...I am in a monog marriage. If my husband came to me and said honey I want to enrich our marriage and I want another wife and for you to have a sister wife, Even though I didn't grow up that way I would obey my husband and follow him. There are tooo many divorces out there and to many problems I think pologamy may fix alot of that.. There is NO brain washing involved it is following the word of the Lorde. Take it or Leave it ...That is the choice.

You wouldn't have to divorce your husband. A swift kick in below the belt is a wonderful, subtle reminder that you are as important as he is.
Would you accept your husband's request if he put it to you in a different manner: "Honey, I want to enrich our marriage by spending time with a few more women that are prettier than you and have a little more than you. Upon doing this, would you give birth to several more children for my ego's sake? Thanks sweetie, you're the greatest."

i don't agree with the idea that the only way a woman can get to heaven is through the plural marriage of a man, or through a man's actions, or that women are lesser than or less important than a man, and you're missing the physical problems that come to a woman having that many children, or treating her as a brood mare for men, but of course i am a woman who finds children distasteful and loud, and like to keep to myself and don't agree with anybody telling me who i should partner with or love

Im from a Polygamist family. my parents live it. and i have lived a perfectly normal life. i dont live in some kind of shut off place. I went to public school, did cheer leading, had lots of different friends. went and did what i wanted with who i wanted.

About the girl who spoke of her sisters leaving the community but coming back... I wonder how much of it was because it is really better living in their controlled religious community, and how much was because they were unprepared to deal with the outside world.
They lack the resources and training to survive in a secular college or hold ordinary jobs. I don't see them coping in what we call "the real world", but this doesn't mean they returned home because they were truly happier there.

I don't know that I really want more than the woman I've got now, but I respect the rights of these families, and I think that one girl is really wise, this insane world don't hold up a match to the simple, family oriented lifestyle of our ancestors.

I thought it was hilarious that the interviewer said she became the person she had become as the result of the "people she'd experienced." In other words, she thinks that the girls are missing out because they don't get to f*ck around. Yeah, she's right...those girls sure are "missing out" on all the fun of the "Cosmo" lifestyle that apparently doesn't bring much happiness to anyone else there wouldn't be so many divorces. But it's "normal" so it must be good...right? ;-D
