  • pure 120% european bullshit n to healthnbeauty1 dis is nt a christian song... dis is one of many code songs slaves once sung... ur hoodwinked bamboozled n fooled... peace n blessing to my ppl n abolitionist

  • That baritone soloist has an epic voice!

  • @Totalpraise1000 Racist

  • @Japheth19 POINT BEING!!!!!!

  • @Totalpraise1000 I mean come on, there are at least six black students in that group. Yes, it kind of sucks since it doesn't have the the soul of gospel music, but that has nothing to do with race. Its style and passion.

  • @Japheth19 never said it sucks!!!!

  • @Japheth19 I know that YOU didn't say that, that was my own personal opinion. I mean, I guess its okay, but it lacks the attitude that the song was supposed to have.

  • boy too

  • that girl that is singing is good

  • why???? white people always trying to take something!!!!

  • @Totalpraise1000 That's not cool... It's a wonderful song that should be shared amongst all colors. Just like the songs says, "All God's children gonna wade in the water." This song is amazing and you're right, it has African American roots. Probably talking about their struggle /BACK THEN/. But you should try to be a little more grateful for what you have instead of making a big deal about us "white people" who "take everything". I think African Americans are f*ckin awesome. :)

  • @MsBunnyriffic Why did you comment? I could go into details with you but I refused to waste my time!!!!! NEXT

  • @Totalpraise1000 Well, you obviously have something against Caucasians. So I was merely defending my race, just as you would yours.

  • Can anyone tell me what arrangement this is?

  • @Horsewhispered Moses Hogan

  • my middle school is doing this song im so excited.

  • Who arranged this version of this piece?

  • @Jake2K417 The late great Moses Hogan!

  • quiet and boring... i understand the point of the song but someone needs to smack some fun into that director! :P lol my choirs better and we are beginning women :P hahahahaha YOUR TOO QUIET

  • The male soloist is AMAZING!!! I got goosebumps when he started singing :)

  • @TheTig3ger Chocolate rain?

  • @myril12 What are you talking about?

  • @TheTig3ger I was referring to another artist who sang "Chocolate Rain" that has a very similar-sounding voice.

  • @myril12 Oh ok, I'll go check it out.

  • soul?

  • HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Awe...I Miss My School

  • the teacher is so funny no ofence to this vid

  • this is really good, the soloist should put a little more twist to it though, not just sing the straight notes. Heritage High School concert did this song, you should check it out. all together though this sounds REALLY good(:

  • im in this! MISS IT so much

  • vry nice indeed!!

  • i was in this group. we pronounced words as instructed to us by two very brilliant men. one of which is directing us. it depends on what you like. so shut your face haters

  • amazing (2:27-2:39) ouu wee

  • waauw, that sound fantastic that solo singer is GREAT! a Musical voice! (my oppinion) both of them by the way

    xoxo

  • Ignore all of the mean, degrading, condesending comments. It's a spiritual song. Their enunciation is fine. Yeah, they could raise their pallates some more (sapranos) but, who knows what thier director told them. You can understand every word they are saying. It is deffinately not bad.

    Bravo guys:)

    Ignore the hateful bitchess:))

  • Ok, really?? Are we gonna pick this apart like it's Beethoven or Brahms? It's a NEGRO SPIRITUAL...just enjoy the song! To the soloists: BRAVISSIMA! And if anyone is wondering what my credentials are with regards to my judgment on this performance, I just happen to be a Negro who sings spirituals and teaches choir. In case you were wondering...

  • hehe. just started working on this song. nice guys n girls =) i hope we will make as good as you did,

  • i have to agree with soccerkingrdl.

i mean, you guys did do a good job, but the choir does sound a bit immature, like in word pronunciation; for example, when pronouncing "god" it almost sounds like the choirs saying "Gawd." also the sopranos definately need to sound darker. regardless though, you guys did a good job, kudos to the soloists.

  • I think that soccerkingrdl needs to stay on the field and not in the performing arts center! Speaking of mouth, try keeping yours closed. Thanks.

  • Go PKY:)

  • wow.....um what to say.....ok first and most important is that the sound from the chior is so immature......it needs to be more of a throat action then mouth.....the second soloist has too much throat........he over compensates the final thing i will say is its wade in da wada.....pronounced and yea needs to be aton more mature......no offence but it sounds like a middleschool chior.

  • soccerkingrdl its called singing spirito or spirit and there are different versions of wording and in this version it is wade in the water because it is a proper choral piece not an 'immatur' piece.... it is simply... beautiful

  • okay... im sorry but it ounds like you are the one who is immature. they are singing it the way it is supposed to sound, so unless your butt was up there, and knew the music, you should really just shutup. we are doing this song in the jazz version, and we have come to find that there are MANY ways to sing this song. that was one of them.

  • @soccerkingrdl It's just a high-school choir. Of course they're going to sound immature, lol. And the second soloist did PERFECT so I don't know what you're talking about. He probably did EXACTLY what his instructor told him to, and he did a very good job of it.

And about your comment "it's wade in da wada" That's not true, that is how a mostly African American choir probably would sing this song, but we Caucasians tend to want to pronounce words the way they are supposed to be.

  • @MsBunnyriffic I see your point regarding the dialect of the song, however, this song has historical meaning. They are only in high school, but most people regardless of racial background would sing this song with historical accuracy, including the dialect because it is the way it was song by the slaves. Many negro spirituals contained hidden messages regarding the underground railroad and this is one of those songs.

  • @stufftoon06 Composer who arranged these spirituals often left in the "improper" dialect on purpose, which is why you here adult choirs (both black and white) sing it with specific dialect. For Ex: If you were singing a french song, you would imitate the speech pattern of its origin and time period. Most importantly I'm just glad these kids chose this song and I hope they aren't discouraged by all the pointless arguing.

  • Oh my god that was amazing!

The female voice that sang the main part gave me goosebumps.. it's not often that happens.

Well done, and congratulations for a great performance. That's as close to perfect that I think it's gonna get!

    ***** :]

  • Yea it was good... but this song is supposed to be a bit more free. More loose, ya know? It was not bad by any means their performance was great and a definite 5/5. Just... it was TOO professional, If thats possible. (And they aren't even pros. lol) ... (for any1 confused thats me saying they did too good. I'm not dissing them ;-) )

  • thats amazing

  • This is absolutley stunning.

  • too fast... but good

  • great:) can't stop watching it:)

  • We r performing this song for 3 towns tomorrow...but we aren't that good we r only in middle shcool

  • AWESOME!!! I think it's such a GREAT IDEA that a school will still let the students sing christian songs! BEAUTIFUL!!! WONDERFUL PERFORMANCE!!!
