There are two ways out: you can either engage the entire armed forces of the world in a futile attempt to saturate a fairly vast area of one country, or you can clear out and hope the country can sort itself out. Either one of those would only happen in a perfect world.

So you end up using remote attacks where your boots can't reach, and without supportive and conclusive intelligence (information) you end up striking a wrong target.

You have the Taliban roaming the country side, away from populated areas. You have the peacekeeping forces protecting said populated areas, unable to break off and engage the Taliban in the open, because the Taliban won't accept a fair fight. The only reasonable way to counter irregular warfare is to engage in it yourself. It's a fact that comes up times and again - you need boots on soil to win a war. And you can't, because you don't have enough boots to cover the entire country.
