  • I remember being 9 or 10 and going to a game at Michigan & Trumbull.... I don't think I had ever seen grass that green!

  • i was in 4th or 5th grade when this game happened. I remember being sooo jealous of the few kids in my class that were lucky enough to be at this actual game. i'll never forget shedding a tear after that todd jones strikeout haha

  • Great video. I never made it out to Tiger Stadium. Wish I had. You captured the day well.

  • that was the same home plate since the stadium was built.

  • Even after all these years, this is enough to make me start crying. So many great childhood memories. In the end though, I think the time was right for a new stadium. All great things must come to an end. GO TIGERS!!!

  • Great compilation. You were very fortunate to be apart of this. Thank you for posting.

  • RIP Ernie. thanks for the memories

  • This made is shed a few tears too. I saw last year only half of Tiger Stadium still standing. That was say. Tiger Stadium has been around since 1919 and the City of Detroit can leave it standing as a Historical site? Detroit Tigers are a historical part of the city. My mom grew up in Detroit and remembers going to games as a kid. After seeing this video it reminded me about what I said above about Tiger Stadium. I will remember Tiger Stadium. RIP Tiger Stadium. Go Tigers Go!

  • I have to admit but I cried just now watching this My heart is Broken about the death of Detroit

  • to the bluejays? you fucking dumbass look at part one during the scoreboard...ROYALLLLSSSSSSSS. not blue jays. royals, look on wikipedia to. JUST SO YOU KNOW!!

  • what are you talking about?

    From wikipedia:

On September 27, 1999, the final Detroit Tigers game was held at Tiger Stadium; an 8-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals, capped by a late grand slam by Robert Fick. Fick's 8th inning grand slam hit the right field roof and fell back onto the playing field, where it was retrieved by Tigers personnel. Fick's blast was the final hit, home run, and RBI in Tiger Stadium's history. The whereabouts of the ball are currently unknown.

  • No your talking about Ernie Harwell's last broadcast.

  • The Tigers beat the Kansas City Royals 8-2, and Todd Jones Struck out Carlos Beltran for the Final Out at Tigers Stadium. For One Carlos Pena didnt even make his MLB Debut till 2001 for the Rangers, and two the Tigers didnt get him till 2002, and the Last Game at Tigers Stadium was in 1999.......Just Thought Id Let you Know

  • Wow.... you couldn't be more wrong. Just thought Id let you know.

  • Whatcha smokin' there my man?

  • that was awesome when everyone starting chanting "Louuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu" when Whitaker came out :):)

  • Love to Detroit, love to the Tigers, and love to baseball.

  • u ppl r stupid tiger stadium is history i admit i love it and wish it would b open today but things break down and that's what happened to tiger stadium even the president of the tigers wouldn't want tiger stadium to go but things happen for a reason so if u ppl r saying o they just hated tiger stadium SHUT UP!!!!! I never got a chance to visit tiger stadium not even be 3 feet from it but comerica park is beautiful the tigers already started history there!! GO TIGERS FOREVER!!!!

  • I'm a Yankee fan who was fortunate enough to be at the last game in Yankee Stadium, and I totally loved these videos. I never got the chance to visit Tiger Stadium, but I would've loved it. Thanks for uploading this.

  • Interesting fact. Billy Crystal directed that HBO film about Roger Maris and his run at Babe's home run Record called *61. The on-field scenes were actually shot in Tiger Stadium which was repainted to the same colors as Yankee Stadium was in 61. Then they used CGI to add all the decorative touches of the Stadium. In fact, The credits actually read "Yankee Stadium played by Tiger Stadium

  • you can still see tiger stadium as dugout to dugout is being saved for a museum and even a amateur ball field.

  • Some of my favorite memories of being a kid were at Tiger Stadium. At the end of the video when Tram and Sweet Lou run out together, I admit my eyes got misty. God Bless You Boys!!!!!!!

  • im a lifelong redsox fan and these vids are the saddest ive ever seen. thx for uploading them they are great/historical

  • Thanks Sox fans...we love your old ball park too. Send some Clam Chowder please.

  • i agree

  • I gotta say, I liked Tiger Stadium MUCH more the Comerica Park.

  • I hate comerica, its impersonal. the team president mchale designed it and had no care for history when designing the new park.

  • I'm sure I dont have as much pain as u did. I'm a met fan and am very hurt that they are demolishing Shea cause I spent my childhood there. Anyway I was at the last game at Shea and I know how it feels to be at the end of something you love. Thanks alot for posting these videos

  • What a shame tearing down such a landmark. I saw soo many games there when I was a kid in the 80's and then in the 90's.

  • dugout to dugout is being saved as a museum and ball field. actually park looks great today because you can see inside now.

  • 1999 was the day Tigers Stadium closed its doors, and now 9 years later, Yankee Stadium with be closing its doors after the game.

  • This will forever remain a memorable michigan favorite

  • more than just a memory. Dugout to dugout is being saved as a museum and even amateur ball field.

  • this is what they did at memorial stadium in baltimore in 1991 bring out old players, you would think they would try to be more original but the fans love it anyway.

  • You got some special images here, man. Thanks for taking us back in time. Not even a Tiger fan, but one of my favorite stadiums.

  • God Bless You Boys! The Tigers will always be Detroit's team!!! Eat em Tigers eat em up!

  • R.I.P. Tiger Stadium, Thank You for everything.

  • Living in rural ontario and was unable to get this game on TV, I had to listen to the last game in Tigers Stadium on a broken broadcast from am 1290 in my dads car.... I was 15 then and I know it wasn't that long ago but it something I will never forget.... I wouldn't have missed it for the world and a memory I pass on to my kids. Go Tigers!

  • dodgerstadium the best

  • NOT!

  • Great job, miss the old ballparks, about to lose Yankee Stadium and Shea in NYC.

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. I was one year too late in my pilgrimage to Detroit to see Tiger Stadium, and I'll regret that forever. This makes it a little better though, to see that beautiful final ceremony.

  • Just hearing Ernies voice makes my eyes well up!

    GO TIGERS!!!

  • Everything changes.....nothing stays the same.

  • Comerica Park one of the worst ballparks ever constructed? What the hell? Someone has never been to Comerica.

  • Why is Comerica park so bad its a great ball park

  • Tiger Stadium = Best ballpark ever built.
