They are the most respected portable filtration company in the world...and their top-end products are clay-ceramic filters...I have a Katadyn Pocket model, that cost $240 USD, and it is capable of removing even viruses from water supplies. Porosity is simply a function of the quality of clay granules used to make the ceramic terra-cotta media...finer the clay, the finer the filter.
Clay filters is just an eye wash, as it does not filter down to micro levels. These are only sold in poor countries, where there is no regulatory infrastructure.
One more knowledgible info. for you: Viruses are not a filterable.

My criticism is about the crude water filters made from pottery clay (same used for flowering pots) mixed by trampling on the caly and mixing cowding etc. in it. The results of this are unreliable.

Water filtrartion is no Classified Secret, I use Daulton 0.2 u Candle Filters since ages. I also use unglazed terracotta pots to store water, the crude clay filters as in this video mix clay with impurities (wood sawdust etc.) before baking it to make it permeable.
