Proposition 8 won the same way the public would have voted in Topeka Kansas in 1954 to deny black children equal educational opportunities if the matter were in their hands. Upholding de jure discrimination for any suspect class has the potential to set a precedent to effect everyones Constitutional Rights.

The Constitution doesn't say a lot of things. Many of the civil liberties and rights Americans enjoy today are not written specifically in the Constitution. But because our Constitution is in itself sort of a living entity, it evolves along mankind, as does its interpretation. If it wasn't for that, you would not have the many liberties you have today.
The fact remains that we do not live in a pure Democracy, which would be Majoritarianism.

The Constitution doesn't say a lot of things. Many of the civil liberties and rights Americans enjoy today are not written specifically in the Constitution. But because our Constitution is in itself sort of a living entity, it evolves along mankind, as does its interpretation. If it wasn't for that, you would not have the many liberties you have today.
The fact remains that we do not live in a pure Democracy, which would be Majoritarianism.

I'm heterosexual, by the way. I just happen to believe in equality. President Obama personally feels that marriage should be one man, one woman, but he doesn't support propositions that take away civil rights. So even if you feel it's wrong, or gross, and that gays are going to hell, that's fine...keep it to yourself and your fucking church group, and far away from the constitution. No one is going to turn you gay. No one can choose what they are attracted to.

I am not gay & I am not an atheist LOL I feel like u dont read wht I send u.Yes the time line matters cause it pertains 2 accuracy & room 4 interpretation. Jesus spoke ARAMAIC, the 1st volume of the gospels were compiled around 100 - 200 yrs later in the GREEK language & until that time it was passed on ORALLY (everp played operator), & then almost 400 yrs later the church in Italy creating Christianity was in ITALIAN. So lots of issues pertianing to time lapses & language translations.See?

Im for gaymarriage the way to accomplish this is to get government out of marriage not force a view. Im just pointing out a big hypocrisy with the gay rights movement. First off the christian god is not the god of hate. you seem to forget its the gays harrassing and assault people the gay community is the hate community. Second heres some other reasons people are against prop 8 forced marriage teaching in schools, Hate speech laws saying if your against gay views your a hater this would also apply to bibles and other religions so to some it up you want to violate other peoples rights not gain a right for love but hate the proof is in the history.

Well that was kind of my point, the New Test. has some real time line issues, & then the whole thing w/ Constantine almost 400 yrs later went & decided w/ a group of priests etc. what 2 keep, not 2 keep & even assimilated some paganism into it (as far as old Greek mythology cause that was the main religion of Rome at the time). So my point is 2 take the entire Bible literal isn't realy doing justice. Have u studied the origins of the Bible? Outside Influences like Zorastrianism on Christianity?

It is believed that teachings of Jesus prior were shared orally. 2nd Constantine in AD325 held the 1st Council of Nicaea(395 yrs later)2 decide christian ORTHODOX and made it legal. Room 4 interpretation.

Not that it makes a difference 2 u but I myself am not gay & am in fact getting married next year in NV. We have dedided 2 not have kids which is the main argument for marriage... I thought. 2 many people on the planet anyway & they cant seem 2 get along. I just happen to care about liberty and equality for all of God's creatures. The police did nothing wrong. The protesters that got hit deserved it for disrespecting the authority of the law. As someone else commented, the rioter on top of the police car was basically vandalizing public property.

If you are referring to the one guy being taken into custody by the THREE cops one of whom is beating him over and over with a night stick, then I really don't know what you're talking about. Now the guy on the car is a different story, pepper spray him and put him in the car. Three cops though beating on one guy is only going to infuriate the crowd and is very uncalled for.

He was, but he got off and was going into the crows when he got shoved. IF the cop had shoved him while he was on the police car it would've been fine, but seeing as he did it WHILE he was actually walking back into the crowd, he can def. be charged with assault.
