Yea a few people have said that to me, too. I don't speak Thai but I had my uncle (who is fluent) help me translate. In Hmong we have a phrase that can mean hurt or hit, depending on the context, though "hit" in that sense is not as harsh as it sounds in English. FYI the Hmong word is ntau mob.
