you use tabs my man? or do you just play it by ear? ive learned most of the the song (fuck the solo, Brent Hinds is god) but the way you play sounds a lot closer than what ive got... i.e. great cover
thanks man, I ussually start with tabs to get a ballpark idea of where the chords and riffs are
Then I take that and start comparing it by ear to the original to adjust the details, videos of the band performing the songs and other youtube covers help as well.
As for brent hind's solos, man you just have to get a basic idea of the structure and then wing it, the man has a confusing solo style.
@redfox1160 banjo and country players usually use hybrid picking and banjo rolls along with all sorts of step bends, all of which brent has a good grasp of, Just check out john 5 he incorporates all of those and more
as for the scales and stuff used I know very little about those and they affect directly the 'personality' of the solos.
I'm using a Digitech RP250 which is about 200-ish in the US I believe (although there is a newer version out).
I have it connected to my pc soundcard to record direct but I can't rememeber what setting I have it on and I don't have the unit at hand to check right now (will check latter and update).
That's about it.
Also don't be afraid to use full words, I don't mind ; )
It seems to be at about half-time, and there is a piece of software that does that for you - I thought that might be what was used in this case. Maybe just the video is slowed down so you can post it to youtube without getting the WMG license error?
Oh that, no slow-downer is being used, just so happens that the backing track I'm using is at a slower tempo in some parts of the song (the palm muted riff parts mainly should be at a faster tempo than the rest of the song). but the rest is up to tempo as far as I know, might be wrong though.
Thanks, although I've seen some pretty acurate and great sounding covers that I think are way better, specially in the palm mutted verse parts and the solo.
not bad, im trying to get the solo down my self, i have a bass cover of this you should check it ouyt

@mrfootinmouth I think his solo style comes from learning banjo at a young age

no problem,
notice that I played around with the mid and treble frequency levels with the xedit aplication in order to find the sweet spot,
so you may want to fiddle with those to further pinpoint your prefered tone.
(I don,t have mine connected trough usb anymore so cant check what the values on mine are at this moment)
