@corpsegrinder1988: Exactly. I notice that more of what I listen to is "power metal" or "gothic metal" but there's plenty of it that I think sucks. I don't usually listen to a lot of death metal or doom metal, but there is some stuff I really like. The sub-genres can be handy when you're trying to explain a certain band's sound to someone unfamiliar with them, but they shouldn't be used to split metal fans into "camps" & start arguments. Metal, like all music, should be about enjoying yourself.

The only reason "Egyptian" and "Viking" are even coined terms is because it's an easy way to identify the music. Not saying it's a just solution but it's that simple.
