they're not life rafts, genius-they are rubber tires put there as cushioning so that boats dont bang into the dock when they tie up-and i guarantee you that no one notice when they made the movie.
As an aside....How brilliant is the lighting in this scene? ...Most directors would have felt the need to bring lights inside to light up the faces of the actors inside to balance with the outside scene...Coppola knew it was right the way it was...
@ShareTheMike The lighting happened unexpectedly. If you watch The Director's Cut, FFC admitted it was the perfect timing for this scene. Sadly enough I'm sure alot of Families did to a Relative what Michael did to Fredo.
His soldiers are more loyal to Michael than his own big brother Fredo. He had to set an example to his soldiers that bloodline came in second to honor, trust and loyalty. They will not question his actions in the future. There is no flaw in his judgement.Their own very survival depend on the foresight of their Don and his abilities to lead.If they sense weakness in his leadership, his soldiers can defect to other family. They'll take along with them confidential informations..
If he could off his own brother, imagine what he doese to others.Don't fluck with Mikey.Bloodline doese not ensure your place in The Underground Empire.Loyalty is everything Fredo !!
If the army taught Michael courage, honor, and loyalty and he got wisdom from his father, then why is Michael Corleone at the end of this film the cinematic personification of stupidity and evil?
My guess is that Michael has the life rafts behind him because he's safe (he does not die in this movie). I don't think the number of life rafts is as important as the fact that he is symbolically safe while Fredo's days are numbered. This is not a piece of trivia I read somewhere; it's my own observation. Thanks for your interest in the site. Many more videos are to come. I am about to launch a website next week.
@darkprince216 he did tht because fredo was involved in a plot to kill Micheal because he was tired of living in his little brothers shadow and wanted to make a name for himself and since he was passed over to head the business thats what fredo decided to do
my God that scene at the mother's funeral where his sister is literally begging for Fredo's life and Mike doesn't say one word then goes out to see Fredo and hugs him and then slowly looks up and gives the order for Fredo's death without one word spoken God that scene made the movie for me!! It sent chills up my spine!
he told him that because fredo betrayed him, and he killed him because he had to. if michael let fredo get away with it, it would be like a singal to other family members and not only tthem, that michael is weak and his not man of honour.
@WMGDMS no. Throughout part I and II, Michael successfully dismantles his mafia business and family for becoming an anti-hero,opposites of his father Vito Corleone the real hero of the film. 1st mistake: pronounces no connection to mafia and illegal business, then kills chief of police and a drug dealer. 2nd: Declares to renounce Satan, while killing many people including his brother in law, breaking the rule to never kill family. He then later beats his wife and kills his brother. The man is Satan.
@mrhockey50 his not satan. it's simple. everythin is under mafia family. his wife, kids, brother and all that is under mafia family. first thing michael is about it just buisness and keepin the family in good relation. fredo was just bad blood.
