Reminds me of the first time I played with Bob Margolin, Muddy's guitar player in his last band. In fact, Bob produced that live record just released of Muddy's last band with him and Johnny, James Cotton, Pinetop etc. My favorite live blues record. THanks again!

  • @pinhi54 : Amen! =o)

  • @pinhi54 - No doubt. I saw Johnny on his first big tour in '69. I'd seen most of the great blues players in the world by then, including the British guys, but I never heard anyone who could burn up a fretboard they JW could, before or since.

  • Hands Down, Johnny winter has been my biggest influence... Hendrix, Clapton and B.B. King after that.

  • @longlostgus frank zappa...WHERES MA HOTDOG???

  • @MrJonypowah

cool if you say so, but Zappa? dear Jesus, let me get back at you before you start tasting that cool hot dog ok?

    later

  • @MrJonypowah and @longlostgus: Frank Zappa's problem with drugs was that he couldn't handle them. Pot - it made him tired & sleepy. But in fact, he couldn't live without drugs - he was an addict - addicted to nicotine (cigarettes) and drank way too much coffee - both of which probably contributed to him getting prostrate cancer.

  • @george383 finally, a Zappa fan who realizes that while he was incredibly gifted and intelligent, Zappa was also stupid on practical matters.

  • @longlostgus I can tell you two ; Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. Now where's my

    Hot Dog??(Mustard and Chili,please)

  • @AnnaAnnaYes

    LOL Anna

ok but I was trying to talk about Johnny Winters pals, like the 70s great rock guitarists -musicians (Satriani and Vi they are great t of course) like Pete Townshend once said "I have no friends no more you know? they all have died because of this thing" wush and he was so right, just look at the names of the great rock artists who are not among us, & you'll get My point here ok?

Ok but still owe you one big time hot dog, just send me the tab to my channel ok?

    Thank you

    g

  • @longlostgus LOL Babe!! Thanks!!

  • @AnnaAnnaYes

wush one hot dog less to "buy" LOL

    thank you A.

  • @longlostgus U R welcome!!

  • @longlostgus Off the top of my head I can name 4. More if I think about it.

Robin Trower, Mark Farner, Alvin Lee, Billy Gibbons

Do I get a hot dog too? :>)

  • @fuxgood

No hot dog for ya, LOL you all get my point 60s, 70s amazing & great Rock Perf. they all (ok most of them) went through hell, some made it some not, no need naming names, If Johnny W. was to high on this and that, who wasn't on those days? it was even hip you know? not now, and great of course. Like Pete Townshend once said, were are all my F friends? they all are F and then he mentioned the D word you know? get back on your "clean" line up later, doesn't look so clean so far TY.

  • @longlostgus }

sorry "Where" are all my F friends

  • @longlostgus Listen to the lyrics of Still Alive And Well. Kinda explains what was going on at the time.

oh yeah, almost all of the famous were high on something. That was nothing new. Producers/promoters were keeping their stars juiced long before the 60's and 70's. Then taking money from them was like taking candy from a baby.

Of course some were self destructing or self medicating however ya wanna look at it, but most had help.

  • Johnny was too high on mescaline, so he ducked out of playing on a stage, and probably played his guitar all through the night in a room of a house that may now be haunted.

  • the best interview since 1991.Johnny seems to be qiute ok after all those years with drugs, drinking, heavy smokin, breaking his wrist, etc. His humour does'n let him down, and how he plays and sings even today. He coud'nt be more American.

A real gem and a national (and international) treasure.

  • I love Johnny Winter!
