why in the world are you drilling through the face of your support.. in all my years I have never seen that before.. i can't see how that would be very archival (and im not talking about warping) If you used a proper wood glue you wouldn't need to bother with ruining your support face with all those holes.
@spiralcosmosart Answering my own newbie carpenter question: "miter box with saw" available at most hardware stores requires no electricity (often for less than $10).

for the pilot holds in center you can use a chalk line on the surface for more precision, excellent work over-all!
