  • Uhh fucka(sic) kenyan pest. I came here because I have good taste in music, the rest of you are just embarrassing yourselves thanking a hack. Not everybody is as uncultured and of the lower end of the gene pool as the rest of you.

  • @aaronscrewme rude

  • Une des plus belles chansons jamais écrite !!!

  • how many of you knew this song before you heard kanye's "heartless"?

    i know i didnt.

  • @zaynjinah me neither

  • What instruments are playing at 3:38?

  • I hear a synthesized set of pan-pipes (playing the driving beat), a bass guitar, two guitars in unison, and drums.

  • @FeynmanFan well said

  • Thier best by far and just beautiful and soul inspiring or life insiring

  • a very intense song on (imho) the end of a relationship. my favorite line is" those who came at first to scoff remain behind to pray". as a man married for 9 yrs, I understand not to take advice on my relationship. do or die its up to me, not the nay-sayers or the you could do better, they are the one`s who wish for the relationship I have

  • What's your guy's interpretations of this? I can't tell based on the lyrics.

  • I am so sorry some of you guys are so ignorant and so shut in inside your own world of what YOU perceive as music. Music is an art. Art could be anything. It could sometimes be the complete absence of sound. Go take a listen to John Cage's 4:33! lol. Techno is a genre of music. Sampling is simply a way of expressing one's feelings. Let's put it this way, you guys are the kind of guys who hated Andy Warhol for his art because it was just "same images repeated over and over with different colors"

  • "One good thing about music, when it hits you fell no pain." -Bob Marley. You can't be mad at a person for having an opinion that opposes what you constitute as music. MUSIC IS MUSIC! We forget how a certain song can makes us feel from time to time and, we also forget how others may feel about it TOO. All I'm trying to say is that we're missing the point.......LET'S GET RID OF THESE TECHNO FUCKERS ONCE AND FOR ALL! THAT SHIT'S NOT MUSIC! THAT SHIT SUCKS!

  • I love them

  • i didn't see a notable similarity between this song and kanye wests Heartless. If u saw some similarity thats just because u prejudiced that

  • @levinat619 2:31 is where "Heartless" is sampled.

  • "and who are we to critisize, and scorn the things that they do?For we shall see and we shall find AMONIA avenue."In Hebrew "Ammon" means belief, trust."ia" is The Infinite One's Name.Avenue is French for "the way".

"The way to belief in G-D". "Somehow they knew".The sages knew &"handed down" since our Soul is a spark of G-D,they knew."& those who came to scoff were left behind to pray"(which is good really)."&stone by stone they built....All the verses may be understood in this song of art.

  • i agree with sephyr242. i would have never heard edwin birdsongs "cola bottle baby" if i hadnt heard daft punks "harder better faster stronger" first. good stuff. also i would hav never heard this song either if it werent 4 wiki helping me 2 find the heartless sample. always loved the music in the background of heartless. and now i can listen 2 it witout rap!!! and Chora101 u r right flo rida totally just took a good old song and ruined it

  • Kanye west sampled this song!!! everyone search heartless - kanye west. how could he leave out tht awesome guitar in his song?!

  • thank u for this! u have no idea how much this band meant at one point in my life..long ago

  • my God! What a trip! I miss alan parsons so much! thanks for posting it!!! alan parsons jamais será esquecido suas musicas são lindas principalmente esta!!!!

  • great sample kanye west did to this yesssss

  • I like both! Does that make me BI?

  • it's funny cause there is an argument about the fray remaking Kanye's "heartless" just after it came out which brings me to one point. People Are Biased; people who originally liked APP's Ammonia avenue tend to dislike Kanye's Heartless and people who originally like Kanye's Heartless tend to dislike Fray's take on the song. I think we can all agree on one thing though Flo Rida' is a low down dirty filthy song stealing ass "right round" isn't original at all!

  • hahaha lmao

    nice

  • nope people are not biased. at least im not. i liked some of those recent rnb and hip hop songs. but once i discovered all of them sampled old songs i started to dislike them. i just don like people getting famous for sampling other's hardwork.

  • @Chora101

    I love both :)

  • @Chora101

we also agree that Kanye is an idiot.

  • @kingarthurup no hes not hes pretty good. probably did more and accompished more than most on this commenting on him but nobodies talkin about you huh. that why youre mad at him. If youre not why say anything negative.

  • @FuFuchannel1

    Sorry, I speak English.

Try some classes and writing me again in another year...LOL

  • As much as I would like to have a go at Kanye Gayfish west, I can't. The songs are completely different, the flute makes sample is insignificant stop overreacting as if he stole the whole song...

  • R.I.P. Eric :(

  • although I'm not a Kanye fan, and it bugs me, because I am not a fan of his style,

the "sampling" (yeah, that's what he did was buy/take it, not interpolate, call a spade a spade)

his "sampling" of it, does show the relevance of APP today, and the fact that even 30 years later, TRUE ARTISTS that write their own music, still own those that "sample"/buy/take.

  • what the fuck are you talking about.

  • Read it more slowly. Maybe you'll figure it out.

  • lol why the hell everyone getting so pissed because kanye sampled this song? its such a generic basic loop of a flute.... anyway money has probably gone to APP for kanye sampling this, and they probably had to approve of him sampling this... maybe you lot should be mad at APP not kanye xD

  • lupita esta va para ud en donde quiera q se encuentre. gracias alan parson por regalarle momentos maravillosos y de goce a mi hermana q ya no esta. nadiakapaz.

  • kanye didn't sample this; he interpolated it.

  • lets jus say he did both. i honestly thought Kanye made da beat from scratch.

  • Whats the difference? just wondering.

  • sampling is taking the original recorded audio, interpolating is re-recording it with session musicians, with sampling he couldn't have made heartless because there was a guitar solo over the flutes

  • Just listen to his Voice...!! He was GREAT performing Ammonia Avenue!! I regret so much that his gone. Good bye and R.I.P. My Old friend Eric...!!

  • Rest in Peace ERic , My old Friend.

  • HipHop IS sampling....

  • @MiniMur4life

Yep and stupid and NOTHING to do with music making at all. Rap is Crap.

  • Niet te stoer internet heldje...met je falende engels.

  • he may have sampled it then added his own instruments then discarded the original sample..end result 808 n flutes

  • este tema es maravilloso, prime time tambien lo es

  • Kanye West is a putz...Kids these days are continually showing how absolutely retarded they actually are ...this is a classic point The movie twilight leads them to find out that debussey wrote claire de lune

  • Kanye actually didnt sample this song. He just used the same technique to make his. If he sampled this song, you would definitely hear that guitar in heartless. That's why he didnt credit the group on his album because he didnt actually work over their song.

  • It turns out that Kanye also sampled the Alan Parsons Project for another song off 808s... I forget which song... I'm okay with it though. The point is that Kanye sampled it. He didn't rip them off.

  • heartless!!! thats the name of kanye's song

  • Well yeah, but he sampled Alan Parsons for another different song too. Maybe Coldest Winter? Can't remember which one.

  • @dsprack tears for fears was the coldest winter sample

  • This is just stupid. Old people hating hip hop sampling because they don't understand it. By all means people..it's obvious that Kanye took the flute loop, but by all means...please explain how he created/chopped the piano breakup in the last 2 bars in the loop. Or how about the breakdown changeup. You people are so smart...point to the parts in this song he sampled other than the flute. Exactly; you can't. So respect what he did even if you don't like it you idiots. It's not easy.

  • How about this? Sampling allows me and everyone else to discover the original song and enjoy it, otherwise I probably never would have heard this song and a lot of other lost classics people sample today.

  • @sephyr242 How about this? "sampling" is altering real artists work, by people who think they have some talent. Would you also draw over the Mona Lisa?

  • @sephyr242

how about this... try doing original music and only buy it... Kanye Weak

  • Fabulous...!!

    RIP Eric

  • people really dont understand sampling...

  • Since When Is It A Crime To Get Inspiration From Another Older Artist And Make It Your Own? Shut The Fuck Up And Be Happy That Modern Artists And Producers Appreciate Good Music From Back In The Day.

  • You're going to wear out your shift keys you know.

  • @BlackmoonUK

  • Seems Ammonia Avenue means something more than a building structure..but has religious over tones or meaning. Ammonia has another meaning."Going towards GOD" and Avenue is the road or pathway. Well anyway I love this song and the whole album.

  • I love this song, it remembers me of old times....alan parsons are the best!!!!!

  • Thats how most rappers do it anyway sample a generation behind them and turn it around bring it back..so just enjoy of good use..hes still an ass for doin that dumb shit but was good while it lasted tho

  • Who gives a shit? Let that donkey lipped nigger have his day. Alan Parsons has been around since the mid 70's. Any artist can have a grammy, a #1 album or riches and fame. Not all can stand the test of time. 30 Years from now if Kanye is still producing something other than fecal matter, I'll be impressed.

  • man thats stupid there is no battle here i love all this old sh*t just as much as you but lets face it if what kanye did was so easy why dont you do it. logically artists are artists

  • I've been an avid fan of Alan Parsons since the mid 70s. I agree that it stands the test of time. I don't really care for West's music but as to stealing music you have to shrug your shoulders because there is very little out there that is truly original, imitation is the highest form of flattery. West's done and said some moronic things. Still the second line in your comment is certainly no better than anything Kanye's said or done. You have to think about taking the high road at times.

  • fuck off with kanye already, enjoy the fucking song.

no one gives a fuck about him obviously.

  • saw alan parsons in Baltimore this summer and met him.

I think sampling is good to an extent everyone has done it. It s sweet that Alan is getting a fanbase now from a generaton that is after his time. I'm effin 15 years old. haha this song is older than me but i've liked him for a while now

  • I think the same way... Im 14.

  • this makes me wanna go shoot sharks on a tuesday

  • "And who are we to criticize or scorn the things that they do?"

    Ammonia Avenue

  • Kanye West is a Gay Fish

  • My first time to listen to it and oh my it's awsome.

  • ıf you wonder which part kanye west stole: that's the part after 2:30

  • he didnt steal he sampled it

  • he didnt steal it you idiot he sampled it with permission from the original artist and im glad he did i wouldve never heard this song if not for the sample kanye did

  • Kanye west didnt take the whole song :D he took just a part of it , in my opinion the best part

  • I wouldnt know about this song had it not been for Kanye, and im downloading this song as we speak!!

  • so kanye used this song to make heartless?

    who knew,

i think that this is a good song tho!

  • And if most of your songs have to start with a warning label about the content, then I've lost all respect for you.

  • All I can say is that 20 years from now, people will still listen to Alan Parsons Project songs...Kanye West...not so much.

  • really? weird...never even heard of whatever this even is before kanye west reinvented it.

  • Reinvented? Hardly. While sampling has become an art form, it usually pales in comparison to the original.

  • taking that comment with a grain of salt...that's quite obviously in the eye of the beholder.

  • Sadly I had to qooggle kayne west and never would have known who the idiot was untill he disrespected one of the cutest lil girls in the world accepting an award ..what a dick

  • i grew up with APP. they were awesome then and still are now. Like Klatuu, night people and many more from that era.

  • I remember this song from when I was a kid. Still love it.

  • Ammonia Ave and Limelight along with Time is some of the best music you will ever hear anywhere. And thats just the tip of the iceberg with these guys. Going to see them Aug-15th at the Nugget in Reno, Nv. Can't wait.

  • Kanye? How can anyone even that name in the same breath as APP??? That's an insult to one of the great sounds of all time. Are you shitting me or what??? I must be on wrong site or something...Kanye and APP? WTF.

  • Almost 90% of the people commenting on this video had no idea who the Alan Parsons Project were before Kanye sampled them.

    That's just sad.

  • lmao like me...but i now i listen to them ALL THE TIME!!!

  • not sad. many people (especially young like myself) didn't know APP. people get introduced to artists in different ways. whether u personally like Kanye or not is another issue that doesn't matter.

I choose to listen to both artists.

  • How is that sad? i'm 20 and this is before my time. How should we all know the Alan Parson Project?

  • dude think about it

what if you were a fan of kanye all your life and some douchebag samples your favorite kanye song and you weren't too fond of what they made out of it...........wouldn't you be a lil mad too?

  • Stop being mad. You should be honored Kanye sampled some artist that is lower and inferior to him. Kanye did him a favor. More people know kanye than this douch today. Kanye is the only reason i am even on this channel.

  • APP inferior to KW? LOL! I think I'd do my homework before I made a comment like that. The APP is a legend. KW is just a flash in the pan.

  • that was a very funy thing to say ...who is kayne are we talking about qui change kayne ../kung fu??yeash thgats it allan parson sux ... lol kids can't kill em can't edumacate em ..nugent sucked hendrixled zepplin all those old guys with their hearing aids and beer bellies

  • well, even though it's sarcastic, we can agree that nugent did indeed suck. missed the beer bellies on zep and hendrix, sorry.

as far as you having to google him...he's been consistently one of the best selling artists for the past 5 years, i think you're sort of dating yourself buddy.

  • I agree with KOPAU, I can guarantee that the hits for this song sky rocketed since kanye came out with heartless. He did them a favor, face it.

  • Favors from Kanye West is probably the last thing anyone wants these days. What a tool.

  • EPIC WIN

  • You do your homework Kanye has done four albums all nominated for Grammy awards

  • Homework? Obviously you didn't. APP has put out eleven albums and has nearly a dozen grammy nominations across a career that started as an engineer on The Beatles Abbey Road, through today. Not counting their original releases, their music has been reissued, sampled, covered, used as soundtracks, etc even today. Just because you see KW on an episode of Entourage doesn't make him a legend.

  • Ye has won 12 grammys in 4 years not nominations he actually won the award

  • well if he is "lower and inferior" to kanye west then where does that put you on the scale. more people may know kanye than this guy but no-one knows you

  • Alan Parsons is a musical genius. He produced the best selling album EVER (Pink Flods-Dark side of the moon)

  • and you're a fuckin idiot.

  • Truth is, if Kanye wasn't sampling songs - most of my buds & I wouldn't of ever heard this song or the other songs he sampled!

I would never of heard this song & in fairness this song is magic so I say nice one to Kanye for introducing me to some legendary tunes.

And by the way most producers sample!!! Even the greats like Rick Rubin, Dre, Quincy Jones probably even Mozart lol!

  • kanye west sampled this.

  • when the time comes I'd love to hear app songs while I'm dying.. then I'll be gone forever peacefully

  • Long Life a Alan Parson!

  • Thank you, love this song.

  • beautiful ....very beautiful song....:))

  • heartless

  • wut rayzeos said

  • Very beautiful song

  • If it wasnt for kanye taking this beat i would of never been exposed to this song

  • don't worry kanye didn't make that beat lol

  • what beat ? he made heartless

  • no.......kanye did'nt make heartless....the guy who taught kanye how to make beats made heartless.......his name is No i.d.

    .........look it up smartguy

  • look up nothing "buddy" kanye west made heartless, as well as every album he's made. i'm looking at the album credits and No i.d. had nothing to do with that track buddy.

  • .lies.

  • same haha

  • stfu he sampled the song he didnt take it

  • same difference and u stfu

  • me 2

  • so, how was heartless sampled by this?

  • how? well he took a part of it and tweaked and added a bit, then he sang over it and released it on an album.

  • 2:30 dudess

  • Listen from the 2:31 mark. Thats how the beginning of HEartless starts

  • 2:29

  • Lame.

  • This album was a good friends suicide note *-(

  • damn, simpathy to you dude (N)

  • lol im doing the same thing!! hahah

  • ppl can slam the art of sampling all they want - IT IS STILL A BEAUTIFUL THING!!! if not for sampling i think ppl's tastes may not be as varied as they are today - i know mine wouldnt lol.

  • I agree with your comment! Sampling is a good thing just as long as the artist builds a good song around the song thats being sampled!

  • damn right! if it's sampled and turned into a mere lazy-ass rap remake and the end result is not even good lyrically, it should be spat upon. back in the day it would be more or less acceptable but with the way music production has advanced both creatively and technologically, there should be no excuses!

Kanye is an innovator - a genius. he flips a sample well, no matter if it's liked it or not. enough for you to recognize it but not enough for a blatant remake - the perfect balance.

  • Once again a KanYe West song introduces me to another awesome one!

  • same :D

  • The best song of the Project...I think that. Regards.

  • And there I was thinking that Ammonia was a dangerous chemical.

Songwriters of skill don't usually hide their meanings too deep. I think Ammonia Avenue refers to a direct and unstoppable parade towards ultimate self-pollution and self-destruction that we need to be aware of. - and Avenue is a straight and direct route often very pretty and ususally tree-lined which can distract the traveller from the goal at the end. The trees lead us to the goal which is usually a man-made edifice.

  • By the way I want to add that this is an awesome song and I am still not sure what it really means, but that is part of its power. It makes me think anew every time I hear it. Such quality. Thanks APP

  • très belle chanson ou l'on se projecte dans l'espace volontiers...

  • Kanya west has as much talent as an unplugged synthesizer, good thing there is a musical catalog of legends to rip off or he might have to tap out a song on the computer, I doubt he actually knows how to write

  • ....There is only 'ONE' Alan Parsons!!!!!

  • you have aids. learn about samples....

  • ahhahahaa!

  • haha "thug"?? he never claimed to be a thug he even says that in his music, and racism just fuels the evil in this world think that over before you judge others, i have respect for all people no matter how they look/act

  • I love the irony of "Your a idiot". It's actually "You're an idiot". Who's the idiot now?

  • @Sonjay718,Actually you uneducated piece of Black Trash, either one is acceptable.

  • @beckigreen Gee, I've just been called a racial slur by someone on YouTube. How fucking original.

  • @beckigreen Rude. Stop using youtube for racism. Multiply or add. Dont divide or subtract youre not smart enough too anyway.

  • the fact that rap borrows from Alan Parsons Project just reinforces the idea that NOBODY has an original thought anymore

  • But, considering the genre it takes abit of creativity and diversity to even listen songs outside of they're normal genre. But it is your opinion to have.

  • we shall seek, and we shall find.... ammonia avenue

  • piękny utwór

  • 2:32 "Heartless" by Kanye West sample.

  • is there no sign of light: means the dark hidden truth that covers mankind. only the dark will grow: is for those who truly searched for the truth and know what i am saying, you will find how dark our destiny and our history are.

only the wise will know: the wise are those who stopped and reaserched if that that they were always tought was tre ultimate truth!

untill we find amonia avenue: amonia avenue is the ultimate truth! They build it high untill the sun gone through:is the secrecy of trt

  • Could someone plz tell me what is the bloody instrument that is used in the "Heartless" sample.

  • this is the song heartless samples.
