This So really tells you how great the music industry was in the 80's. Great Musicians and witty lyrics. I've always felt if it wasn't for guys like this and Dred Zeppelin there wouldn
t ne any Psychostick or Mighty Bosstones. I always wondered what this band could've done if they got serious. But this was a great album and a great live show. One of the last bright spots before the prozac flannel grunge era started. \m/ \m/
Thank you for posting this video because I was actually looking for this video couple of months ago but there was only one that was posted. And it had a horrible quality. Thanks once again.
haha, i just learned that this song's based on an old vaudeville routine called "slowly i turned" (look up "abbott and costello niagra falls" for a variation on the comedy routine + you'll see)
I saw these guys live in Va Beach. Skinheads started a riot when the lead singer said "My grand dad used to eat f**kers like you for breakfast in World War II!" The skinheads rushed the stage and the band members started swinging. That was awesome... of course, I rolled but came back later to find to cops had a bunch of Nazi's in handcuffs.
@MrGtjimbob the skins ruined a BUTTHOLE SURFER concert for me in tampa in 1988 or so... they grabbed the nudie dancer girl and stage dived with her, 1.1 songs and it was over, cops came, paul leary lost a guitar smashing it over them, etc... gibby kicking... they had to stage dive into the crowd to save her...
Brian Brannon of JFA, also in tampa, made fun of them and asked them to run around in the other direction - that turned into threats and skin rushing the stage. that show played out...
@MrGtjimbob i saw them gang up on people repeatedly, they were the bain and bother of my mid to late 80s punk rock fun, no bigger problem than the skinheads... you'd think they would have picked on blacks and jews instead of skaters, new wavy fags, and other punker types... they didn't quite follow their symbology to the letter, except to say they might have had a few conservative clashing ideologies to slam dance around against the lefty crowd? not sure how informed such youth really was...
Classic. I like how they combined different styles of music into one song. Different, but fun. PS...I love those fluro Warlock's (guitars) (very 80s).
I saw these guys at a club in Phoenix in the early nineties. They closed their set by coming on stage all dressed like little girls. I'm talking skirts, small shirts and sweaters, knee high stockings and their hair in pig tails. Then they played a thrash metal cover of Motley Crue's "Girls Girls Girls", it was f***ing awesome and still makes me laugh 20 years later.
@joroo62 Lmfao! I wish I would've been there to see that! I saw them twice live back in the day and they were hilarious. At one point the singer came out dressed up like Madonna and pranced around. LOL You know, I miss bands like this because in this day and age too many Metalheads take this shit WAY TOO SERIOUSLY!!
i remember the 1st time i saw these guys, boston mass at a place called the channel,1990-91,1 of the best club shows iv ever seen, fckn amazin dude, opps
don´t call me buddy, guy don´t u call me ur guy friend, don´t call me ur friend, pall, don ´t call me ur friend dude... WHAT?!?... i'm gonna stare at u till u get braincancer... buddy don't call me buddy, pal! don't call me ur pal friend!
@MeowYap well i don't know if he had a stage name like he did in ludachrist but he's the lead singer. he absolutely HATES it when you ever mention one of his bands... or call him dude.
classic. i like the "Ray J. Johnson" reference he makes at the end. my friends and i will still quote this song when someone says "dude". just one of those songs from our childhood that we'll never forget.
Great song....came out just before I met my EX-wife. Though I still love this song. Infact my second wife just bought it for me....so we will see what happens...LMFAO
I interviewed Paul Nieder in the early 90's.I was ateen w/a fanzine called,"Bite".U guys said u received the raw elbow macaronni I used to send. You were so sweet! Im still a fan.
Don't listen to all these tone-deaf RHCP fans posting their shit comments - it's a great band. Listening to Tony Kiedis sing off-key for 20 years has damaged their ears, and watching Flea bounce around like a demented little insect has clouded their tiny minds; this band was never intended for perpetually shaven MTV sheep.
The fact that "Scamboogery" is totally unknown whereas "Californication" was a huge world-wide hit is further proof that Satan has the upper hand.
Some classic Metal...riffs and Timing.
