I like the fact that she looks Indian and she is very pretty. I've looked at some Bollywood actresses and remain mysified why all of them have to look Iranian rather than Indian, and they wear tons of makeup and that makes them look old and a bit fuddy-duddy. Fair-skin has no rarety value in countries where it is all too common and not in itself particularly interesting. I don't know how Ms. Pinto is perceived in India but she looks definetely pretty and her English sounds very fine to me.

Freida looks like any ordinary looking Indian girl walking down the street in India and I guess that's her appeal. Bollywood is filled with fair skinned actresses like Kareena, Aishwarya, Anushka... Anyways one thing that keeps bothering me is Freida's seriously fake English accent. She was born and raised in Mumbai so it's a bit wierd. It's a mix of Indian and English accent which makes no sense. Go back to the accent she used to have.

I see so many comments about Freida's Accent, or how/why she has one. India was an English territory for many years and the main language there IS English (at least as far as business and communicating with different territories), so, accents are British in many areas.. She also lived in England and still live there part time. Why do people pick on the slightest thing and try and make a big deal of it? Just be happy for her success.

She's from a small town in India and didn't have a British accent while modelling and in Slumdog. You can't get an accent after 10 years of age and she got it in her 20's! So fake. I am happy for her success but the truth is what it is.

It takes me a couple of hours to take on people's accents...even if it is just syntax... I just cannot help myself...British, Indian, Emirati...
