You did a great job, but I can only see one thing you guys did wrong. Brenda and Eddie would have been teens in the late sixties. Everybody at the prom looks straight out of the fifties abut otherwise a fine job of it
@Mechknight73 You're absolutely right. We took some creative licenses with the time periods. I know the song is from the 70's but, for some reason, the 50's-60's looked more appealing to us 80's kids :-) Thank you very much for your comment.
Directo a mis favoritos es el homenaje más hermoso que le pudieron hacer a una de las más bellas composiciones del maestro Billy Joel gracias mil les quedo de pocamadre!!
wonderful rendition of the classic from billy joe.l one can really connect to his /her life in the 80s and muse how things have worked out in one's life. this video makes it more realistic. and guys does'nt matter if the actor didnt know how to hold a sax, the overall effect is grt. thanks hope u have many more coming out soon. Billy will be proud.
@woddyhayes78 You're absolutely right. We had rented the sax from a music store and none of us knew how to play it. If you notice the girl's mouthpiece is upside down and the blond guy is holding it from the thumb rest!... :-) LOL. A few years after doing this video I took some sax lessons, so if I ever do a remake, I'll get it right!
@NYCgirl1221 The way I interpreted the song back in 1991 was that, the one sitting in the restaurant is Billy Joel reminiscing with an old high school friend. That's why at the end of the song he says "That's all I heard about Brenda and Eddie, can't tell you more cause I told you already, and here we are waving Brenda and Eddie goodbye".
This is an excellent video, sir! Very well done! The only thing that I didn't particularly like was the lady with that saxophone. She was a tad bit comical for me.
I am so impressed with this video. I've always wanted to shoot something for this song. But would not even try as it would pale in comparison to this. This is perfect. Yeah the video quality is a little rough, but jeez the footage is 20 years old. I would love to see it remastered and cleaned up. It is so inspiring to see this. I gotta say too, this video has such a nice feel of a classic (real) music video from that era. I just can't praise this enough. Hats off!!!!!
@ArwellJones Wow! Thank you very much for your kind comments. Indeed, this footage was shot over 20 years ago with S-VHS (not the best quality, even back then) and with no budget at all since it was a college production. It was truly a labor of love, edited in a linear S-VHS suite without the benefit of today's computers. I've tried to have Billy Joel see it, just for the heck of it, but that has proven harder than I thought... but I keep on dreaming :-)
@moutal You know, every time I watch it, it seems like its a VHS recording that someone made of the video while it played on VH1 or MTV way back. Even though its SVHS, it looks like what videos did of that time period (early to mid 80's.... actually I think the song came out in '77... none the less) I really do hope you can get Billy Joel to see it. That would be awesome, you deserve it. Good luck.
@moutal And another thing.... linear!!! No Final Cut Pro or Premiere AND you were just kids. Amazing. I had my wife watch it and explained that to her. She didn't get it (hehehe) I told her.... "This guy's my new hero...:)"
Now I am done gushing.... lol. Keep it up and again, good luck.
1:54 and 5:50 are my favourite cuts, though there are several clever edits! By the way, Billy Joel's three-part song was not surprisingly influenced by the "B" side of The Beatles' Abeey Road album. Thanks so much for such a fun rendition Mexico!
@TalkALotMore Thank you very much for your kind comments! I didn't know about the Beatles influence on this song although I'm not surprised, seeing that Billy Joel is such a Beatles fan.
Wow is all I can say! I sure wish Mr. Joel had officially released this with y'all. It's perfect. I still know the words to this song by heart backwards and forwards...One of my favorites...Very well done! ★★★★★★★★★★...10★'s for sure!
I've always loved this some, maybe the best song from that decade. I always thought it cinematic and long plotted in my mind a video. I had more slow fades and sepia colors but the characters and locations you filmed were MUCH as I imagined, so my hat is off to you, sir, for the talent and motivation to complete such a work. I wonder if Billy has seen it? I think he'd like it. I sure do.
I've watched this video every couple of days since I discovered it about 1o months ago, and everytime it strikes a chord with how your version is almost exactly how I've pictured it being acted out since I was a kid, and now whenever I hear it elsewhere, your face robert, pops into mind as billy.

This song is unbelievable, definetely one of my favorite Billy Joel songs. The video was engaging, and the students who made it deserve a lot of credit. Well done.
I've watched this video three times in a row now. There's a real honesty of sentiment here. You can tell the kids who made it had a blast. It seems like they did this for all the right reasons. I hope Billy Joel sees it someday. I'll bet he'd get a kick out of it.

danciswithwolves 2 years ago
There's nothing wrong with this, just getting together with an old friend. Walking arm in arm does not make two people lovers, it is chivalrous.
FlemFlam86 2 years ago
I dunno... I suspect that if the Mrs. saw her husband walking arm in arm with an attractive female friend she might have something to say about it...
Doesnt make them lovers, but it is certainly more indicative of a closer friendship than not having seen the person in years.
