Yes, most definitely underrated, not only for pop music but as a Julliard-trained classical pianist. How he isn't yet in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a travesty, to say the least. I believe that there is a petition in circulation to advocate his induction. Hopefully those who have some influence will do what's necessary to correct this! Thank you for posting Alice In Wonderland. I remember buying this record when I was 13...spent my whole allowance on it! Still have it somewhere...!
@lovesmusic36 How he is not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is truly a travesty, and then someone with one hit is like Percy Sledge...but that organization is so political and biased. The list of those not included is an embarrassment to their organization.
I'm a product of 50s and 60s music, especially the Brill building "kids" i.e. Neil, Carole King, Burt Bacharach. I've seen Neil in concert three times and had the pleasure of meeting him briefly at a fundraiser. I've been a fan since age 11, that's 50 years if you want to do the math...! He was and will always be an amazing talent! He has inspired me to return to music and songwriting. As one reader posted and with which I must agree, he definitely has "a smile in his voice!"
@lovesmusic36 Thank you so much for your post. He truly does have a smile in his voice and a lot of heart in his melodies. I too am an admirer of Neil Sedaka and his music, his fun early hits were favorites from my pre-teen years. I've seen him in concert twice, in '81 and in 2004. He is one of the greatest talents of the 20th century and truly underrated for his contributions to pop music and early rock.
Having attended the Juilliard School, Neil Sedaka proves his musical versatility in his songs. They can top the genres of rap and hip-hop. More young people ought to
be interested in him and recognize how marvelous he is.
boopkid, thank you for posting this song! It brings back those great memories of being in the 7th grade at Aliamanu Intermediate School in Hawaii, and hearing the song on the radio when I was a young, idealistic teenager. Woo hoo!
This gem will always me of my sister. She was tipsy one night and sang the entire song to me...note and word perfect...the next day...she could not remember a note!!! Tweedle DUM!!!
Many thanks for posting...NEIL is a genius...The million-dollar man with a smile in his voice!!!
Sergio: I actually have this song in my collection. When I was in high school in the mid- to late 1970s, I bought several of Neil's albums. He was having a sort of comeback at that time. I think he is a musical genius - and remember, he wrote many of Connie's biggest hits. He deserves to be in the hall of fame, absolutely! Thanks for this!! Best, Ken
Ken, Thank you. Yes, he wrote songs for many artists Tom Jones, the 5th Dimension, Connie Francis, Lesley Gore, Ginny Arnell and others. I've been lucky to have seen Neil perform twice, once during his 70's comeback and as recent as 4 years ago, he is still going strong and a consummate showman, singer, and pianist. A true musical genius.
I don´t remember this song, but it´s cute. Loved the video and the dedication to Lourdita. Let´s go steady again is my favorite one of his songs, both the 1963 version and the one he made in the ´70´s.
"Let's Go Steady Again" and "Next Door To An Angel" are a tie as my favorite from his early period, "Laughter In The Rain" from his "mature" period. Thanks for posting, prima.
I like both of those songs, too, Sergio! I think Neil is a phenomenal songwriter and performer. One of my favorites is "Oh, Carol." And I love "(Get Out And) Circulate." Ken
My sister used to sing this...funny it is not as well known. Thanks Serg, and we are so glad you came to America!!! Your videos bring all your videos to life, especially this one! We love our Serg!!!
This is such a sweet song! Never heard it! Also wonder how Annette missed out on doing her own cover! :-) Although the Disney version is a timeless classic, in my family we also always enjoyed the 1933 movie version with Charlotte Henry, Edward Everett Horton, W.C. Fields, etc. Nice treatment of the tune!
Thank you Jon. Glad you heard it now! That's what's great about YouTube, old things, obscure things can be brought to light and be new again. I have never seen the 1933 movie version, I will have to find it and give it a view.
This is one of my all time favorite Neil Sedaka songs! I'm a romance author-- Career Achievement Award winner. Talk about Alice in Wonderland!!!! LOL! Absolutely LOVED this video!!!!The fantastic cuts from the Alice in Wonderland movie are just plain fun!
New to me. Thanks for uploading it

Now, doesn't this sound better than Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit"?

@isuckaman No, but it's still pretty great.

This has to be the first time I've ever heard a song which so much as mentions Alice in Wonderland that I wouldn't consider "psychedelic."
But it's really a great little song, and I'm really glad you posted it. Thanks.
