@lasseforsure I agree, they lived in different eras, if Hitler had a good taste in music comes as no surprise since a whole bunch of great composers were of German ethnicity.

They can't really be compared. Yes, they're both Sopranos, but they have TOTALLY different voices.

I'm just saying that the two singers do COMPLETELY different things with their voices. So, saying that you think the other is better is like saying you like Luciano Pavarotti over Jessica Simpson. They're both singers, yes, but they do totally different things with their voices.

Tarja started as a mezzo, and was further trained to full soprano range. Hence the re-recorded version of Sleeping Sun (the one that got the battle video).

If you compare it to the original, it's different. She's lower in the original, also she sings it lower live (such as on End of an Era) and on the compilation album it says "re-recorded version"

Back to Therion: Wagner kicks ass, amazing performance.

Now I can reply to this comment after accidentally deleting it once. :D So yes, you're right on Tarja's voice, but Sleeping Sun 2005 is in the same key as the original one, it just sounds higher because Tarja uses her poppy voice there. It's almost identical excapt for some aaaa-s in the middle.

Tarja herself stated that during her Oceanborn times she was a mezzo and her voice changed to be a lyrical soprano with the years. But let's forget Tarja here...
