One of my best friends has a double masters degree in biology/biochem and environmental science both with an emphasis on teaching. He has his teaching credentials as well. These degrees cost him a little over $100,000.00 and have put him in student loan debt for an indefinite number of years to come.

He has been making smoothies at a health food store for 5 years because it is the only decent paying job he could find since he graduated 5 years ago. He makes $10.50 an hour and rents a room in a house for $850.00 a month which between that, his student loan payments and his food leave him in absolute poverty. He had to stop driving and sell his car last year because he cannot afford to pay for the gas and insurance.
