One single NXT was used for the scanner and the other two NXT bricks are used for control of the replicator unit. I used 2 NXTs for the replicator unit because there are 5 motors which must be controlled.

I love the intelligence of your model. How many bricks and servo's did you need for this? I can see a master and slave, but can't this be done by a portduplexer from hitechnic (to solve your lack of ports actually)? I will now be pushing the subscribe button.

For the scanner I used 2 motors, 2 touch sensors and 1 light sensor (1 NXT).

For the replicator unit I used 5 only motors (2 NXT), You are right, with an port duplexer I can reduce by 1 NXT - but the goal was to use Lego parts only ;-)

In total I used 3 Lego NXT sets and some additional parts/brcks.

why do you need two mindstorms and why do you have stickers that say "master" and "slave"?

The replicator unit contains 5 motors:

M1: rotating basket

M2: fting basket

M3: inserting/bushing bricks

S1: moving magazine

S2: move brick out from magazine

The complete assemble process will be controlled by the master (first 3 motors). But if the process needs a brick from the magazine than a command will be send to the slave (which control other two motors) for delivering the right brick out from the magazine. The stickers are necessary for determination of the NXTs.
