Warren promotes a Gospel of success & slick sound bytes. What ever he may say about Susan Boyle, I doubt if he would even have noticed her had she not already attained full media status. Anybody who courts public opinion, sucks up to the rich & famous & is feted like some kind of Rock Star, seems a million miles away from a little Jewish bloke. who rode on a donkey, didn't even own his own clothes, was buried in a borrowed tomb, & executed because he was a real pain in the ass for the state!

@JXJ1326 I HAVE read and studied the bible for five years and it is the most interesting book I have ever come accross- however it is full of contradictions and it HAS been edited, and if we have evidence of this editing who has said that it hasn't been edited again and again to fit political purpose. And the political change within the bible almost proves that it isn't the word of God, it is a set of created views that people have been taught to follow, and people will continue to follow.

When they drove the Jews from Alexandria, when they killed Hypatia and burned her body and destroyed her work, setting civilisation back 1200 years, they were the ONLY Christians around, there were NON denominations, they CREATED the religion you subscribe to. A Christian is one who believes in and follows the teachings of Christ. This tag doesn't require the follower to be perfect, but some attempt is required. Scoffing, snickering and contempt are anti-Christian behavior, direct opposites of that taught by Jesus Christ.

There is nothing wrong with using an illustration or finding a parallel in some example, but when pointing out what God's position is or how God feels about something, this would a good place to read the scripture that supports it. I didn't hear one passage read to support anything said. It makes a tv show more valuable for truth than God's word when we leave out the word completely.

Regardless of what one might think of Rick Warren, the message of THIS sermon is a healthy one, I think. It's true that in this world if you're not rich, beautiful, powerful, smart or athletic then you're considered unimportant and don't matter.

I think it was a wonderful sermon! The whole world is talking about how she was judged, my bet is that there was many churches that heard something like this Sunday. Susan is a tool of God's and Pastor Rick did right in pointing out what God wants us to learn from her.

Don't be so judgemental. he was just saying what he saw and thought. Susan's performance was amazing so that so many people were touched so deeply. But it is beyond human effot. Rick Warren, if you are going to use Susan Boyle, then you should know that:

1. American Idol is taken from the ORIGINAL Pop Idol from Britian. AI is actually the copy.

2. Britian's Got Talent was suppose to air before America's Got Talent but couldn't work it's way into the schedule before the one in the u.s. ran. It is not a copy of AI or Pop Idol.

3. By putting this up on your website you are actually exploiting Susan Boyle and her name recognition to get hits to your channel.

American Idol's format is quite old fashioned now since it's a version of Pop Idol which was conceived ensuing Popstarz nearly 10 years ago. It's been defunct in the UK for a long time and we've progressed to X Factor, which is a lot more up-to-date, better produced and fun.

It would have been better if he'd compared BGT to AGT since they're the same concept and the only similarity between the other two is Simon Cowell.

Among other inaccuracies is that Britain's Got Talent is the British version of American Idol. Other details are just pulled out of, um, the air. These little things may be inconsequential to the message but are nonetheless distracting. The message is worthy but in the expression it comes across first as opportunistic and then as artless. I guess I've always wished the Rick Warren came across as being somewhat more intelligent than is the case.
