  • i dont get it

  • @loulovesmm You have to search YouTube on "Lecter hidden plots", then view the hidden plot videos for the 4 individual movies (Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, etc.). Also, read the information under the videos, and view the blog. If you then still have questions, I will be happy to try and answer them.

  • @loulovesmm And you wont ever get it, unless you look into the mind of the author of this post.....TA TA!

  • @quantumhex Am I to take it that you looked at the videos and the blog, and still don't get it?

  • @quantumhex I accidentally deleted your other comment, but my response is still the same. You'll think it's "mad" if all you did is look at this one video.

  • Or maybe you could just watch the movies and understand them for yourself.

  • @HannahVampire A plot is something that's in a movie regardless of any one individual's understanding of that movie.

  • @MrMovieAnalyst Yes. And what I was saying is that anyone can identify the plot. They don't need to watch other movies/videos of other peoples' interpretations of plots. Thomas Harris knows these plots, not random people who post on youtube. They're all just interpretations here.

  • @HannahVampire I'm not interpreting the surface plots in the videos, I'm exploring the HIDDEN plots. As far as I know, these hidden plots have not been identified by most people (except of course by the screenwriters and other movie-making personnel). You can verify this by googling on "lecter and "hidden plot"" (without the outer double quotes).

  • @MrMovieAnalyst But you are interpreting. How do you know its true what you find? Things may fall into place perfectly, and seem completely correct. But it's still just a guess, a theory. Have you found these things from writings or lectures of Thomas Harris and various others involved in the creation of this masterpeice? Or are you finding things on your own? I am sorry if I sound rude, I was in a bad way earlier. What you are doing is quite interesting. (: I just wonder, is all.

  • @HannahVampire I suppose it's true that it's a theory, but if you look at the blog, you'll see that it's a well-informed one. Also, if you watch the movie Hannibal, it's really quite evident that Lecter intended to get caught at Union Station, and that the whole thing is a plan, since he starts gathering the medical items early.

No novelist or film-maker is ever going to reveal a hidden plot.

  • @MrMovieAnalyst I see what you're saying. But here's my problem. What would he have done if Clarice would've never came to his rescue? He did lead her of course. But he didn't really have control of her actions to chase Verger's men after his capture. Although maybe he knew instinctively that she would anyway. But if it wasn't for her he couldn't have got her gun. And he wouldn't have got free so easily. Cordell could've still pushed Mason in, but the 3 men would've killed them both most likely.

  • @HannahVampire Lecter is depicted as the type of person who has complete command of every situation he's in (except in Hannibal Rising, where he's young). He 'knows' what people will do. The original plan that he had worked out with Cordell was that he would be able to grab a gun from one of Verger's henchmen. The hint as to this from the movie-makers is when Lecter taunts the worker - "your brother smells worse than you by now..." - he is trying to entice the guy (continued)

  • @HannahVampire ...into untying him and starting something (like a fight), but it doesn't work and Lecter remains tied up until Starling shows up. Lecter didn't tell Cordell that Starling was part of the plan, because he knew that that would worry Cordell (i.e., she doesn't know Cordell's working for Lecter so she might shoot him).

  • @MrMovieAnalyst But what would've happened if Clarice didn't show up? Cordell didn't seem to have a gun since Verger ordered him to go into the pen and get the one that was dropped. And there's two men on the floor dealing with Lecter, and one up on the same level as Verger and Cordell. And if Lecter couldn't have convinced them to untye him and start a fight well... all this happening instead, what would he have done?

  • @HannahVampire Sorry about the deleted comments from yesterday, I had to re-arrange things because I forgot to click on "reply" once yesterday. But basically my answer's the same as yesterday...not to blow you off, but the way these Lecter novels and movies have been written is that Lecter seemingly "knows" what people will do. He's in command of every situation. And he knows Clarice through and through.

  • @MrMovieAnalyst oh okay sorry. I didn't see these until today. And that's what I was thinking too, I was just wondering. I am going to look into these more. It all really interests me. And you said something about a blog. Would you let me read it?

  • @HannahVampire Yeah, just click on my name under one of my comments to view my youtube channel, then click on the link to my blog.

  • @MrMovieAnalyst Your blog is very interesting. I'm beginning on writing about Hannibal and his series, just writing about the movie as it already is, and im going to look for further underlying plots. Ill share if I find anything else, or additional information, and if your interested in seeing it. (:

  • @HannahVampire Okay, sounds good. Let me know what you find.

  • @HannahVampire I'll think about your question some more.

  • @HannahVampire To answer your other question, yes, I'm finding these things on my own. I've never heard of Harris giving any lectures, and I haven't even read the novels, except the first few chapters each of Lambs and Red Dragon. My main references are Wikipedia, and the writings of Saint Augustine and Carl Jung (and Marcus Aurelius for Lambs). It's basically just been a series of intuitive insights, I suppose.

  • those aren't hidden plots.......those are key parts of the movie

  • @gryffindor286 I'm not sure how to interpret you're comment, for example, are you saying that it's evident from the surface action of The Silence of the Lambs, that Ardelia Mapp is stabbing Clarice Starling in the back? It's instructive to watch the hidden plot videos for the indidual movies, then you'll have a much better overall picture of things.

  • @gryffindor286 "...videos for the individual movies..."
