  • Thanks for uploading so many great survivalist-videos. Just subscribed to newsletter/maillist. Good to see people with the same respect towards nature and creatures as myself. I'm sure Turtleman agees :)

  • Aho. Keep it up brother.

  • Nice dude I slack line all the time as well as boulder and survive I don't no if u rope climb or not but glad to see there's more people out there who care about little stuff like turtles hahaha great vid

  • Don't waste your time watching the other videos. everybody has peripheral vision and knows how to walk.. Its called stalking.. or hunting as we call it in America. lol Its not that technical really.. too funny.. lol Even the squirrels are laughing, Look at that idiot who tied 2 trees together.. lol You should join the Circus. lol

  • @99bugout Typically. Only an American could say such bullshit

  • Thanks a lot Paul!

I'm becoming keen on your survival skills videos of your channell!! I'm also looking forward you load new files about this matter so I can improve my english as well :).

  • wow impressive. thanks for the vid I learned some usefull stuff

  • longboarders do this too for balance nice video

  • I already know if I'd try to get onto that thing like shown in the video I'd fall down on the other side instantly.

  • Make SURE you protect those trees! Cardboard is perfect for this, and if you don't have any cardboard, just chop down a nearby tree and make some.

  • @Kuploosh FYI that comment was not intended to be critical or making fun of you, it just struck me as funny since cardboard is made from trees in the first place. :)

  • Hi, Paul

I really enjoy watching your series of videos.

    Thanks and it's wonderful.

By the way, any after-story about your little turtle? Can she survive in the woods?

I know not much about turtle.

    cheers,

  • love it!! :D

  • wear a cup! lol

  • Thank you for saving turtle man

  • you should put subtitles for those (like me) who dont speak english

  • Please keep making your videos they are awesome and you have great insight.

  • I NEEDED THIS!!

  • one of the best videos ive seen in a while...

  • Awesome... thank you!

  • god slack-lining is hard, my best record 6 steps haha. but awesome videos, i just found ur channel and am hooked.

  • Glad to hear it! Thanks!

  • I have watched a few of your videos now and I am more and more impressed after each one. Get yourself an agent, pitch and idea and get yourself on television. I have seen hundreds of videos on bushcraft and wilderness survival and yours are by far the best in the category and among the best on Youtube. I run a camping website and will absolutely be linking to your site the next time I upload pages. And I don't link to anyone. Well done my friend.

  • Awesome dude. Absolutely kickass video.

  • VERY nice vid man :)

  • I have done a similar thing a month ago and walked across a band like yours after a half an hour i had the feeling down and could easily walk across a band wich was about 3 meters long and was capable to turn walk back and even walk backwards, after another half an hour

it was really fun to do but i didnt know i was using these techniques you talk about and thought i was just walking

love your show ( a fan from holland , i asked a question with a contact form on your site)

  • Great information from physics. Good presentation. Thanks a lot.

  • You should do like radio work, you have a great voice. Great videos! 5/5

  • That could be used as torture. Ball slapper! Great vid. thanks for always trying to help others. If every one could watch these many lives may be saved in the bush! you have a new sub bro! Thanks

    Survival

  • Great video! I'd love to see the word "slackline" in the title.

  • I totally love and dig the videos that you make, they are very informative, but above all, I appreciate the philosophy behind them. I like very much that at the end of most of the videos not only do I learn a new technique, but I learn to appreciate my interaction with my environment and to learn to honor it as much as I can. Thank you again, and keep up the GREAT vids coming! BTW, Slack lining is amazing, a buddy of mine introduced me to it a while ago. Thanks again!

  • Thanks so much for the kind words! Glad to hear that you are enjoying the philosophy so much! Stay tuned for more and feel free to reach out anytime!

  • i thought that a video can only be 10 minutes long?

  • MrDerr32 Excellent presentation. This is one type of fire that I have never built. Thank you for this very good tip and pls continue with your videos. Compliments from Italy.

  • Awesome! Glad you liked it so much! Thank you!

  • Hi paul nice video god blessu my friend you have to go watch my britney spears videos take care god blessu dale britney ehrself loves them so u know they have to be done for her. there also pic taken backstage with her people . also my pics on my icon was whne danced at her circus tour last year...

  • My neighbors always thought I was crazy for these things,as well as the zipline off of the street light pole. The city didnt think it was as great as I did so they said I couldnt do it anymore, lol. I fractured my hip doing a slack line behind Miguels pizza at red river gorge kentucky.......I wasnt sober,so learn from my mistake-dont drink and slackline!

  • Awesome!!! I am going to be camping at Miguel's May 7th and 8th!!! Love that place... bummer about your hip man.

  • that technique would make a great ridge line!

  • Yeah good call! It can be used for all kinds of things...

  • Thank you so much, your videos have been a huge help, me and some friends are going out to my uncles 1700 acre woods to see who can stay out there the longest. You have really given me a HUGE advantage

  • Glad to be of help and thanks for the kind words! PLEASE be careful out there... there are a lot of things that can go wrong... good luck!

    Paul

  • Thanks Paul, I really enjoyed that. I used to practice balancing, by walking along the tops of the tall fences that surrounded the gardens where I lived, back when my body was around 10 years old. My body is 51 years old now, and having good ballance has saved it more than once in this life. Keep up the very good work Paul, you'll inspire many, I'm sure. Judging by some of the half-witted comments I've read while viewing your vids, a little inspiration isn't going to hurt. :)

  • Hey! Thanks for commenting... I really appreciate the kind words, and I love how you say that your "body" is 51... somebody told me that growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional... I always get a chuckle out of that. Have a great weekend!

  • great tutorial m8!!! 10x

  • Thank you!

  • this is probably good balanxe training, but how is this relevant survival training?

  • how about 1:43? ¬¬

  • you don't need freat balance to walk quietly in the woods

  • good balance transforms into full corporal control, and allows you to walk silently and with stealth

  • sure it does Mr. Ninja

  • hell it does, Mr. AngryMan

  • What mm is the climbing rope?

  • That was hefty 11mm...

  • Is carabina on carabina a good idea?

  • I think in this situation it is pretty safe because of the predictable loading... thanks for asking!

  • great video very interesting and entertaining

    -joe

  • The come-along system with webbing straps is a very useful tool to know about, even if you aren't going to slackline. Great video. Congratulations to Mr. Turtleman and goodluck in his new home environment. Fascinating presentation Paul. I like your philosophical view of how to carry yourself through everyday life. It really brings to mind those bracelets. You know...WWJD. Thanks for an entertaining and informative lesson. 5 starz dude. And a subscription.

  • Hey thanks very much for the kind words. Glad to know that you share the same philosophy... thanks again!

  • good job

  • and you are very handsome too :D

  • GREAT!! that is what I call an informative video. Love you man.

  • I really like this series. This is the type of thing that people are not aware of, precisely for the reasons you mentioned. Excellent!

  • Damn, you're good. Can't believe you can do that so easily haha.

  • i love mountain climbing. This might actually help with my crappy balance XD Great instructions!

  • Slap the Family Jewels into the next kingdom, Say What ?

block & tackle instruction was informative, Ribbit

  • nice video man it was very good

  • Sorry if I missed it, but, how much of a span can one cover with something like this?

    Thanks.

  • Pretty large... anywhere between 10 and 100+ feet if you really get crazy with it.

  • For me, about 3 inches. ehe

  • dude we are so having a slack line contest at pwyp.

    after meade.

  • Most definitely my friend!

  • I have to say you have some of the highest quality videos out there,

    always in HQ

you have a mike pack witch makes it easy to hear you

    nice detalied instructions

close ups and wide angle shots

just all around some of the best videos, you seem to know what your talking about.

  • Hey Thank YOU... and stay tuned for more to come! Glad you are enjoying the vids!

  • doesn't the tension change as you go closer to the tree and closer to the center?

  • Yes, it does... there is definitely a sweet spot where it is easier to walk... I find the center to be the most difficult.

  • you drag on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on....

The videos are good, but damn dude... be succinct.

  • Are you making the videos all alone or with someone filming you?Maybe the first :) What State are you from? The nature in that state is very beautiful!

  • Well, mostly alone... once in a while I have someone hold the camera for me. I live in MO... thanks for writing!

  • Oh man very nice videos :) I would appreciate it if you made a video how to make an arrow and bow in nature :) For hunting

  • Glad you enjoyed them! I have a lot to learn about bows, but as soon as I get that aspect covered, I will post a video! Thanks!

  • an important Ninja skill

  • Awesome! Will have to give it a try. Thanks Paul!

  • Good luck!!!

  • Keep up the good videos buddy. I really like all of them and tell my friends to check them out. I have learned a lot from them. Maybe some time if you ever get some time you could talk about wild edible and non edible plants, that would be a really cool video. Thanks for the good videos again, Take care.

  • Thank you!!! And thanks for commenting... one of these days I will get to the wild edibles... stay tuned!

  • I'm skipping through the video here, exactly what are we making? Hurry up and tell me before the video ends!

  • MUUR

  • kakkoiine

    good balance

  • Awesome! Many lessons learned. Keep up the good work.

  • Thank you! Glad you enjoyed and stay tuned for more!

  • cmon man, u need to buy a ton of expensive climbing gear before u can try this

  • Tons of expensive equipment???

  • Hedgehog, from knots and coiling climbing rope to fox walking, these are some of the best vids I've ever seen on Youtube! Just wonderin about this one - why do you need the 4 oval karabiners, could you just tie webbing directly on to the screwgates at each end?

  • Hey, thanks! That is very nice of you to say. As far as the oval carabiners... you need them for a few reasons. The first is that you want the webbing to lay flat in relation to the ground. If you don't put those extra links in there the webbing will be vertical and that makes it more messy and hard to walk on. Then, I use two on each side for redundancy. This setup puts a tremendous amount of force on the anchors and it is not unheard of to snap a carabiner... two is one, one is none!

  • dude i think ur beetr then man vs wild b/c they just do it u talk n do about it

  • Thanks! That is very nice of you!

  • no really i like your vids

  • Thx, great videos & very informative. Keep up the good work!

  • You got it! Thank you!

  • thats cool your in missouri, I live in saint robert right outside ft. leonardwood. lol i just got back from the cardinals game last night. Ill try some of your suff out, I go out to the mark twain national forrest alot to fish and practice survivul skills. We live in a great state to do these things.

  • Hey right on! If you ever want to spend some time in the dirt, send me a private message... thanks for commenting!

  • Thanks! Stick around... more good stuff to come!

  • I am a new subscriber and have to thank you for your efforts and education that you are sharing!

    Excellent work!

  • Awesome, thank you very much and stay tuned for much more!

  • wow ,thank you so much for the info. living in the city you dont have alot of opportunity. But this block and tackle system love it,and the knots wonder if it can be use to pull a car out of a ditch not that it happens often lol......

  • Hey thanks for commenting... yes there are tons of applications for this system. It works great for pulling someone up as well... enjoy!

  • Thank you! I'm glad you are enjoying these videos! Stay tuned for much more to come!

  • Great video Paul 5*

  • Thanks a bunch!

  • Great video Paul. I relate entirely to your comment about not always being in a state of relaxation and aware when in the woods. Like you when making videos my mind is on the camera. I intend to adopt your awareness skill training to again be more ware of my surroundings. Sincce making the videos for youtube I havent seen hardly any wildlife. I know they are still there Im just not aware of it. Thank you reminding me of what I am missing. Sean 5*

  • Hey Sean... thanks for commenting! I'm glad you enjoyed the video... and man, I definitely feel ya about the video camera. It is rewarding in one aspect to be capturing the info to share with others, but it is also tough because I feel like I am on a rigid time schedule now and then... anyway, I really enjoy your vids too and get a lot of value from them... I hope to meet up someday if I am ever in your neck of the woods or visa versa!

  • great vid

  • Thanks!

  • Good video Paul!!

  • Thanks!

  • oooh, that always looks like so much fun, I see folks doing that in the park sometimes. Better balance would be nice for my ballroom technique. Thanks for looking out for the trees w/ the cardboard/carpet suggestion!

LOL, you're "that guy", I've been that guy on occasion (well that girl, anyhow) and I've never regretted it, I only ever regret it if I don't scoop up the critter and wonder what happened to it the whole rest of the day.

  • Hey, thanks for watching and well put! Glad to hear that you have been "that girl"! Rock on and keep having fun out there... thanks for commenting!

  • Muy divertido. Thanks.

  • Thanks!

  • GREAT information. The knots you used have a tremendous number of additional applications for the outdoors. Keep the vids coming!!!

  • Thank you!!! So glad you enjoyed the video, and yeah, as you mentioned these knots can be used for all kinds of stuff. I am going to do a more comprehensive video on knots at some point. Thanks for watching!

  • A.D.D lol

  • Yep! Lol!

  • I agree that to love nature is to love everything it contains. I don't know ur faith background but you should look into paganism. It might open up a better view of things. I am not talking about the witchcraft aspect. Just the nature loving side.

  • Hey, thanks for commenting... I am not familiar with paganism but am always open to hearing peoples beliefs and such... for myself I guess I am always kind of "searching" spiritually and I don't consider myself to be any one thing... best wishes to you my friend!

  • @HedgehogLeatherworks ...I heard an author on public radio a month or so back, who had written a book called "Dark Green Religion," referring to the common strands of spirituality that run through the lives of people who revere nature, feel themselves a part of it, and believe in the interconnectedness of all things. I think it might be right up your alley, and something you might want to explore. Thank you for sharing these extremely informative, high quality videos.

  • Awesome... thank you for the insight. I will be sure to check it out!

  • I really enjoy your videos. As others have said before, you are a very articulate speaker. The whole tone is nice, mellow, and relaxing to listen to. Five stars from me.

  • Thank you Rico! That means a lot to me and I really appreciate the encouragement! More videos to come soon... I am going out to do a lot of filming this weekend!

  • Paul,

Great video ... save the turtles ...

Regarding what the first comment was referring to "18st", I believe that he was telling you that he weighs 18 'stone' with a stone being equivalent to 14 standard pounds ... i.e. 252 pounds ... FYI.

I like the fact that your subject matter focuses on skills, practical use, and mindset ... the last of which is your most valuable asset in many situations ... including survival ...

    Keep going ...

    Justin

  • Thank you for the clarification! LOL... that is interesting! And thanks for the compliments! I am glad that you are enjoying the videos and aligning with the mindset! Turtle power!

  • In my part of the world we don't walk through the woods quietly unless you're carrying a rifle and hunting game. Mainly because we want the 5000 black bear and 3000 grizzlies that we have here to hear us coming...haha! Great video man...honestly :o)

  • LOL!!! That is hilarious... I laughed hard when I read your comment! Thanks for chiming in!

  • You're very welcome...hehe! Love your vids man!

  • I posted my comment before you mentioned the turtle, it reminded me of a few months ago. I too, held up a busy 4-lane highway to help a softshell turtle that had made his way out of the marshlands on the side of the highway. He was slightly bigger than a cadillac hub cap. I was referred to by quite a few colorful words, but I personally percieved it as totally worth it. Glad to see I'm not the only one

  • AWESOME! That is great man... be that guy! I have never seen a turtle that big! Very cool and blessings to you... it all comes back eventually!

  • Very good balance. It may take me a good bit of time to get my balance centered, but time is all I got.Great vid.

  • fair play to you for your abilities,but i'm 18st ?

  • Hi,

Thanks for commenting... I don't understand what you are asking... could you please clarify?

  • sorry mate, i'm a great big heavy bloke and i can;t c my self doing that somehow. the jokes on me.i'm loving the videos though

  • Lol! I got ya... glad you are liking the videos! Stay tuned!

  • Thank YOU!

  • Don't forget to tell viewers to start low then work up to hip level. Great video. I used to rock climb; but also love the wilderness self reliance.

  • Good call! I mentioned it somewhere in there but could have clarified a bit more... thanks for commenting!

  • Wow! Thanks

Impressed with the self locking tensioning system.

    Cool turtle save.

    5/5

  • Thank you! And thanks for your rating!

  • awsome video, i wish more people would cherish life and respect what we got and not expect every thing. any way thanks.

  • Thanks! I'm glad that you got good vibes from the video... that means a lot to me!

  • Being one with nature is key! GREAT video!!! Side note:it's good karma to help animals like turtle-man,I'm sure he appreciates it :)

  • Yes, I totally agree! I am a big believer of the karma type principle... so glad you enjoyed it!

  • thanx

  • You got it!

  • Hoorah for Mr. Turtleman! Hoorah for Paul! 5/5

  • THANK YOU!!!!!

  • what knife is that you have???

  • It is the Fallkniven Idun (available on our website)

  • great idea with the clip system. how much did that whole set up cost you? ive seen surfers doing slacklining like rob machado. your not not bad at it!

  • Thanks... I wish I invented it, but someone showed it to me a long time ago. The whole rig is probably 40-50 bucks... and for the value it provides it pays for itself MANY times over... good luck and thanks for commenting!

  • cirque du bushcraft

  • LOL!

  • Thanks for sharing , I enjoyed watching Will be need to drop a few pounds before I attempt lol

  • Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it and let me know how it goes! You can do it!
