For Link to the Past your complaining that there is a punishment for dying in the game. Did you expect to have the game warp you right back to the boss with full health? That kinda defeats the purpose of having health to begin with. To be honest, that's the only thing that bugged me this whole video.

I can kinda understand this list as a modern gamer myself, i was only like 6 when the gamecube came out. however, the only one i really can defend is Mario RPG. it is a very good game, and i played Paper Mario 2 before i played RPG, and my only gripe with RPG was its length. I wanted that game to be SO MUCH LONGER.

zelda i never liked as it looked crap and the main theme is played too much, fighter games aren't my thing, the music sounds good and i suck at it too, i liked dkc but when you get to the ice level it just got too much too hard boo! sm RPG i've still to play, super metro looks crap but the music is cool, super mario bro3 ugh its too hard to do the levels plus you turn into a flying thing with a leaf? I don't think that you really explain yourself very well in regards to this list, but again it's your list. I will say that many of these games are great because they are considered classics. They broke new ground in their respective genres during the period when they were released. So I don't think that it's nostalgia goggles blinding people. The game flaws we notice now didn't exist. How they hold up today doesn't matter, so much as how influential they were... and SMB3 influenced EVERY game.
Expectations can be a cruel thing when not met so that's why I think so many popular games ended up on your list.
I think many high rated games are so loved because of the memories they have of the games from that time period. However this begins to cloud such things as how the game has aged.
Take Final Fantasy Legends 2 for the game boy. I loved this game when I was a kid even when I got stumped but now when I play it I see the flaws of the random stat system and how annoying grinding is.
You're totally right. Games like Alttp and SMB3, which sold millions of copies, are great disappointments. People who dont have a SNES or a NES shouldnt be able to play those at all.

what games do you actually like haha you should be on grumpy old men. in relation to your hatred of "nostalgia blindness", i for one dont enjoy the modern warfare games for example but they are genuinely reverred as quality games and deserve the nostalgia that they will receive. i am sure that there are some classic games out there that you enjoy so does that not mean you feel nostalgia for them.
Oh, I enjoy plenty of older games, some of which I expirenced recently. Two main examples I can think of off the top of my head are Castlevania 4 and F-Zero. As for nostalgia, it just seems like people will say that older games in many long running series are better, and they really won't have any supporting arguements other than nostalgia.
