Ambient Occlusion really just isn't worth the performance drop in my opinion. So long as you've got a good lighting mod installed it isn't justifiable to have it turned on.

Skyboost and TESVAL kill shader processes that aren't around you, so you get these liney shadows. It looks kinda shitty. My performance is at 32FPS on a Macbook Air at the top of Whiterun and the game now runs flawlessly. On a Macbook Air. A Macbook AIR!

@NiahsVlog if you have 40GB free, Bootcamp it, you'll see a huge performance boost (at least 30%). Then install TESVAL or Skyboost, and you'll see another 20% performance boost.

Getting a boost in fps too with this mod, Why on earth dont Bethesda do this for us and include it in the next patch? I only have an AMD6870, the frame rate jumped up by 8 to 10 which will do me, thank you every much! Havent tested it fully as just want to play the damn game ;o)

Why do I need to uninstall oblivion mods to install the new mod manager, Im still playing that too!

HI, im having the Fire glitch and wonder how I can fix it. for those that haven't heard of "the fire glitch" is that I can't see the flames f. example I can't see the dragons fire breath I can only see it when u or others get hit.

Im getting 50 fps with the Acceleration Layer while looking at the tree, im running 2 GTX 580 in SLI with a i7 2600k on ultra settings , is this the fps I should be getting or should it be at 60 fps?

@DefinitelySeemsLegit That sounds about right. Believe it or not your 2 gtx 580 are probably not pushing over 45% load stood on that step in Whiterun. The CPU is the bottleneck. Now your CPU is good, but on Ultra you have actors set to 15 which means way more actors, and that is way more CPU. 50fps there on Ultra is actually pretty damned good. Annoying isnt it?

A WARNING ABOUT THE BETA DRIVERS!!!! i am using an 8800 gt card and i downloaded the beta drivers and it killed my game...my frames dropped to a snails pace. when i replaced them with the older beta drivers that i had before (the second drivers. right under the new beta drivers on the list) the older drivers work much better for me so if you have a 8800 gt and your game is running crappy after installing the beta drivers then try out the slightly older beta drivers...

I've just discovered a crazy AA filter that is a must for skyrim, It's called Inject SMAA it's amazing! The performance boost and improvement in graphics quality is awesome!

I have just tried skyboost, it gives me about 5-8 FPS more than what tesval does.

I, like a fool, chose to play as a destruction mage. Luckily, I have found a good magic balance mod which makes the destruction spells be more powerful AND more expensive every time you take one of the skill level perks. I can see why you wouldn't want to cover these kinds of mods in a video though

@JaTochNietDan Usually I run on Ultra, so High is down for me. That takes the strain off the graphics card a little which is good as the mod we are evaluating only helps when the CPU is the bottleneck, not the graphics card. At least as far as I know.

@GophersVids I actually cannot comprehend what you are saying. It wouldn't actually put any more strain on the CPU, it would take pressure off of both, theoretically, but it wouldn't specifically but more strain on the CPU. The bottleneck would be if your graphics card was far more powerful than the CPU, so in order to test this you would have to get a CPU that was definitely being the bottleneck of the system and maxing out Skyrim with 100% CPU usage during play.

Really good mod. Before it I could only play the game with 40-50 fps on very low settings and lower resolution. Now I can play it on mid settings and 1024x768 resolution with the same fps.
