  • umm, its running on stock psi 26 i think it is? and i drove it from jacksonville florida, down to miami floored for abt a hour and a half was going around 120 didnt wanna hit more it was a bit shakey

  • i had it floored..just let off at 122 it was shaking and now i did the head struts chipped it, and put a intake and boost controller and bov.

  • the only powerstrokes ever made were the 6.9L IDI for a few yrs then the 7.3L IDI till about 93' if i remember right. Then their was no more IDI and they went to a computer contolled 7.3L. Half way thru 2003 the had the 6.0L and in 08' till now the 6.4L. Do your homework before u make yourself look like a fag. oh and im 17 and still kno more bout motors than u prolly ever will.

  • @ford4life366 the biggest problem 6.0s had was blown Head Gaskets this was caused by the headbolts stretching under high boost conditions. The EGR Cooler would fail and the Veins in the VGT would stick, therefore caused turbo failure. Me personally I like the 6.0s. And I wouldn't tell no one they are junk. I would tell them what they are common for.

  • I see the guy i bought it from was a mechanic so i trusted him he ran injector cleaner since it was new and so have i do you think this is a good thing to be doing? sorry about all the questions im a new driver and ive only ran the truck about 6000 miles

  • i love my 6.0 ive gone 84000 and havnt touched it people told me not to buy a 6.0 unless it was 07 or up but i got an 04 and i love my truck to death, can anyone reading this fill me in on what there big problems were if any? or y people would have told me to stay away from them

  • Is it a harley davidson edition? Or what year is it? I was not sure b/c of the gauge under the RPMs. It is different than my 04.

  • its probably just an 05 or up they put the boost gauge in a different spot and the harleys had cooler gauges than that

    i have a 97 F350 with the 7.3L i love my truck to death but i just like everything about a 6.0L. You cant go wrong with those engines.

  • working man68, why didnt you put in some more head studs after the first headgasket?

  • it used to clog up these little "veins" with carbon and it would cause premature failure of the VVG turbo. Also the 6.0's blow head gaskets like crazy due to the fact there are only 4 bolts per cylinder holding the heads onto the cylinders, rather than 6 per cylinder on the 7.3. Those are really the biggest problems, then theres the EGR......I appologize to all the 6.0 fans out there, to each his own doesnt bother me, but I'm just saying it how it is its just my .2 cents..

  • i got a 07 f350 fx4 and it has 115,000 trouble free miles on it and it is always pulling stuff ford fixed the 6.0l problem after 04 they are damn good engins just as reliable as the 7.3l thats my .2 cents even has more power than cummins

  • even though there are rumors going around about Ford's next diesel engine "Scorpion " i think thats the most stupid ass name there is. I've been a POWERSTROKE fan for years and im not about to by a truck that has a gayass Scorpion engine. that names sounds weak.

    Fords been PowerStroke since they made Diesels and thats the way it should stay.

  • As of 2011 Ford will no longer be getting its diesel engines "Power Stroke" from Navistar which has been producing them since the 80's.

    Ford has decided to cut ties with Navistar due to all the "problems" we have been having with the 6.0 & 6.4's.

    The 2011 engine is set to be a 6.7L with 390hp/720lb-ft and is currently being tested under the name Scorpion.

    Fellow Ford loyalists please dont take this as a power stroke bash!! And please do your research before writing a nasty reply.

  • It took only 20 or so years before Ford finally "realize" there are problems with Navistar built engines...LOL . Ford should of built their own diesels long ago. Better later than never i guess.

  • I used to love my 6.0. After two headgaskets and egr replacement, this set-up is SHIT. I'm looking for a good 7.3 to make my living. Fuck Ford and their awful service.

  • the 6.0 isnt the problem, its the people with their tuners, Ford had nothing to do with the development of the 6.0, Have you ever tried going to more than 1 dealer, most of the time the dealers skimp on service

  • the 6.0 is definitely the problem...its one of the worst deisel engines ever manufactured...theres more glitches in that engine than any other engine navistars come out with. Personally, im sticking with my 7.3, reliable and performs the job perfectly.

  • After you replace the head studs, turbo, and exsaust manifold, it will last the same amount of time as a 7.3. The 7.3 can do it stock though

  • lol exactly. I mean, if it wasnt for all the problems, the 6.0 would be a diehard diesel engine. But for reliability, the 7.3 is the way to go.

  • The 6.4 so far has been performing just as good as the 7.3 because unlike the 6.0, they didn't rush it to market and had time to work out all the problems. The main reason why the 6.0 had so many glitches (the MAIN reason), is because of the diesel fuel they use in north america. To keep it short and simple, the variable vain geometry turbocharger in the 6.0 has little "veins" in it, which virtually eliminates spool up time, but since the diesel fuel WAS so dirty up until a little while ago-->

  • I bought a V10 (2003) 2 years ago. I added a banks power pack and a cold air intake. Accelerates better and now I get 12-15 mpg instead of 10-14. I should waited and saved up a little more for a diesel though...

  • yeah, a 2003 F350 with the 7.3L will get 18-21 mpg

  • i have an 01' f340 4wd 4-door......35" tires brought it down to 12 mpg's.......my 5" open exhaust sounds just like this tho...i deffinitely need to invest in a tuner!!

  • I'm on my second truck with a 6.0 both were leases, I'm going to buy this one because I absolutely love it. I've owned over 40 vehicles in my lifetime and I have to say this is the best vehicle I've ever owned. The fastest vehicle I had owned was a Honda Prelude and my 6.0 Crew Cab long box which weighs in at 8400lbs kicks the Prelude's butt hands down.
