Man this music takes me back to the 8th grade back in the early 80's. The pure funk just was so cold blooded. We had a spot for all the teenagers called the ''squeeze inn'', and they sold hamburgers, chili dogs, had a few arcade games, a juke box, & a pool table inside. All of rick james best hits were on the juke box. Man we were just being young kids having so much fun and not having any worries in the world but going to school and doing your chores. No violence, gangs,or disrespect. I miss it.
I remember being in Gurinville Ca, Russian River in the 80's and going to see all those hot girls at Johnson's Beach when I was a teenager! Listening to this song!
dance wit me, throwdown, hard to get, superfreak, ghetto life, and standing on the top have the same funk formula, listen very carefully, musicians, fans and singers! rick james is pure genius! and i will remain attending his class of musicology!
Rick made some of his best songs for, and with other singers, MY FAVOURITES include TEMPTATIONS, SMOKEY R, JONES GIRLS and VAL YOUNG.The TEMPTATIONS 'STANDING ON THE TOP' is a lot BETTER,funkier and SPUNKIER than this track, it is so heavy man, it sound as good today as when i first heard it 35 years ago. I never knew anyone make SO MANY GREAT SONGS WITH OTHER PEOPLE, he was one of the coolest dudes on the PLANET. His song 'GLOW' SHOULD BE HONOURED ON THE ALL TIME SOUL 100, A FANTASTIC SONG.
Rick Rocks ,so sorry for the ones who dont like his tunes, any one who dont has no class and baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad taste in the tunes this is were thr real r&b is get a grip
Pretty little thing, girl ya lookin' fine, and I wonder can you spare a minute of your precious time, I really would like to know ya if you want me too, tell me baby, maybe I can discuss it, over a dance with you.
Classic lines that only Slick Rick himself could laydown.
this jam makes me want to just start shaking it up! I work in an office and I can not jump out of my seat and let it go. But my feet are making serious moves! Can't wait til 4:30pm.......That's right! Roy Ayres is on this joint also.......Is Roy still with us?

@champagnehec. i couldn't agree with you more. music like this put the stamp on what music meant and how it felt. hypnotized by the rawest of artist and musicians is way to much for listeners of "today's music" to comprehend. You can listen to each individual musician do their thing. Great Music to say the least is an understanding.
Music like this is made from the heart and soul. Music made by real musicians. If you didn't grow up in this era of music, you just don't know. That's all gotta say about that.
Rude Boy Rick musta sold his soul to FUNK up the planet like he did. Shame he spent all of his money! The Fast Life ain't kind...Love yah Rick keep badding up the base for me!!
@uzipolo I agree w/you 100% brotha....I'm 37 years old, I was 8-9-10 years old embracing the TRUE R&B, the greatest music there ever was, even before I was 8, no other music the current generation, or the past 2 generations have conceived comes close to this, I never fell for the hype, RICK was one of my favorites, like a musical uncle, this was the real deal...STREET SONGS, one of the greatest albums I ever heard from top to bottom, it's sad what it's all come down too, MUCH PEACE

@uzipolo YES I AGREE WITH YOU 100% we are living in a world of GREED. Do we go out 2day for fun or to have pay another bill!!! By the time you are finished partying for the night you dropped $100 plus beans which could pay part of that loan on your house.
uzipolo-your right about the clubs are kiddie clubs now.man i hate to sound old at 43 but that shit seemed like it was yesterday.man me and my boy hit a few clubs a few months ago which use to be on hit.man they let people in with baseball caps,du rags, jeans and these young clowns all in groups, dudes dancing in a group holding up bottles of drank with shades on. a house full of women but these gay ass thugs wanna be hood with that stupid shit. check out the top paragraph as i finish this talk

when we dressed in the 70's-80's it was not FAD clothing i dont care what vh1 show tries to make fun of it it was timeless and THATS WHY the yungings are wearing what we WORE back then NOW and it was great style i guess to some it up you can take a quote from klymaxx(my ginna versace BLUE leather suit..wow..BACK THEN??) or sister sledge(..halston gucci..via alucci or whatever she said hell i cant afford it lol lolo) but you get my point these are not FAD clothing uzipolo king of decatur
and i agree you had to look polished had to wear your pants on your ass but looked good in the process beacuse it was a great moment back then to step out to have a great time and be seen that one night was magical to some people who had 2-3 jobs who had alot of kids who had problems in they life but when they stepped out big daddy oh man it was like the ebony jet showcase NOW its bullshit alot of flexing(well i know it is in atlanta thats why WE are 5th in FORECLOSURES in the COUNTRY)

First heard Rick on a much missed radio show 'The Classic Jam' in Birmingham (very much a funkateer's stronghold) in England. Got sucked in by 'Cold Blooded' and never looked back....the best afterclub music in the world...my old man's called Rick James by a strange coincidence too. This is dangerous music to drive to...makes the mind wander...and maybe the hands too....
Line up: The Stone City Band & Slave They are also working on getting other artist. So go on out and show some love for Rick James (Stone City Band)trust me you won't be disappointed
Anyone in or around the Buffalo area the Stone City Band will be at Buffalo's Funkfest Aug 23, 2008 along with Slave at the LaSalle Park in Buffalo NY. It's been years since you guys have seen Rick's Stone City Band. Let me tell you I have heard these guys play not long ago and you won't be dissapointed The Stone City Band can still bring the funk just as hard today as they did back in the day...
As a youngn, my older and most favorite sister surprised me and took me to see rick james, stone city band and the mary jane girls. Un Freaking believable!!!! They were top not performers. Rick even pulled a shoe box on stage, went in and pulled out the stickiest of the eickiest. Lit it up on stage and passed it through the whole band. The crowd went nutz and followed suit. This was whenthe did "real concerts"! THIS MEMORY IS PRICELESS. THX RICK RIP........
He´s got the "Gene Simmons" (KISS) axe-bass .-)

First heard Rick on a much missed radio show 'The Classic Jam' in Birmingham (very much a funkateer's stronghold) in England. Got sucked in by 'Cold Blooded' and never looked back....the best afterclub music in the world...my old man's called Rick James by a strange coincidence too. This is dangerous music to drive to...makes the mind wander...and maybe the hands too....
