Just a simple example, there was no way to know the age of Aicha, as at this time, they didnt record dates of birth. All we know is that she was younger than Mohammad. When Europe was in the Dark Ages the Islamic Golden Ages did this: created the Hindu-Arabic writing system, created the system of Algebra, continued the dead tradition of the arts eg. poetry, prose, paintings many of which are in/or studied in western unis today, Avicenna founded modern-medicine in Afghanistan and this was followed by subsequent developments of science in the Islamic world. Ask any historian, Islam did contribute.
