Why does Dave Grohl ALWAYS gay this song up?? Look at the "are" parts and you'll know what I mean. Also the chorus is abysmal; he's taking the piss, talking it rather than put in his heart and soul like in the music video. The drummer tries all the time and puts Dave to shame. Pathetic. I love the official video though, and it proves that Dave is either 1) lazy as fuck, or 2) computers are only reason that he sounds good.

Dave Grohl is not "gaying up the song", he's not talking he's singing and if you listen to the studio recording of the pretender, there's a backing track where he sings there too. my guess for why Dave sings the backing track live is so he doesn't blow his voice out before the other acts. And trust me dude, Dave Grohl is a naturally talented dude.

Well said by Ang131000 above. I love the Foo Fighters and Led Zep but I'm sick and tired of my favorite bands using these string sections. Rock 'n roll is supposed to be bare bones and rebellion. Guitar, drums, bass, piano, horns, etc. Send these violin players back to the orchestra pit to play classical music with their MFA's. R 'n R is the people's music.
