  • there was no struggle in the sense of a war, or an armed rebellion. but the there was a struggle in a Politcal sense. The majority of people wanted independence, and it didn't come as easy as a simple "ok, you are indpendent" from Britain. And there were conflicts within in the bahamas, as some islands were more loyal to the Queen than others.. such as the island of Abaco, which had a petition to be seperated from the bahamas as a nation and stay loyal to the Crown.

  • lol..the bahamas should apply for usa statehood...it is so crazy...all of the bahamians are suffering..becuz they are stuck on stupid..eye dont see why they are still living this way..it is unsettling to me why a poor country is still at the door step of the USA..

  • who ever gave this nation independence was drunk. It is a joke of a nation no culture no nothing it has protsituted itself to tourism

  • @nauruforever555 the queen of england is not a drunk.

  • Hubert Ingraham: Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign: Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Im-man´u-el (God with us) (Isaiah 7:14 Your Bible) And she shall bring forth a son, and you shalt call his name JESUS (Saviour): for he shall save his people from their sins (Matthew 1:21) For to you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord (Luke 2:11) Believe in Jesus Christ and be saved you (Acts 16:31)

  • perhaps the bahamas should apply for american statehood

  • @elchasai fuckkkkk THAT. we struggled to gain independence.. we a re a proud nation, although we have problems just like many other countries, i dont think we should apply for american statehood because of it..

    we are BAHAMIANS..

  • @Gotti242 the Bahamians struggled to gain independence? in what way did Bahamians struggle to gain independence?

  • @elchasai soo, my point here is that independence is something to be proud of, and we have only been independent since 1973... It may be easy for you to say that "we should apply for american statehood" but from my perspective it can come off as quite insulting.. do you think every small nation in the caribbean should join american statehood?? give me some reasons why we should do it?
