Though I'm not a fan of Michael Moore I feel compelled to defend him by saying that there hasn't been a genuine "documentary" since Harlan County. That was really the first Docushill, as I like to call them, that injected the director's opinion and take on the situation as opposed to just filming and presenting what they had observed. This has set the tone for documentaries since, allowing for directors, like Moore, to inject their opwn perceived fiction into what should be a factual piece.
