  • is the parking brake the same as the emergency brake?

  • @itsnathaaanxD Yes it is.

  • That's not the correct way to adjust the handbrake. For god's sake make sure the rear brakes are not binding after this procedure or you'll boil your brakes resulting in no pedal pressure and no brakes, you will have a serious accident for sure!

  • Why is everything i find 10 mm.!!!

  • If the EL brake light won't turn off, can you adjust the E.B. handle to turn the light off. sometimes the light goes off.

  • @motokev Remove the console and you will see a little tab on the handle which pushes in the switch to turn off the light. If it is pushing in the switch all the way and you are having problems then it is a good bet the switch is faulty.

  • @richpin06aI DONT THINK I'LL NEVER TAKE MY SL1 TO A MECHANIC AGAIN LOL.

  • I have an issue with my emergency brake in my 1996 Saturn SL2. After I engage it, if I even remotely bump into it or tap it, it disengages. Have you ever heard of that happening, richpin06a? It's kind of dangerous since I park on an incline and all.

  • @HankV3ntur3 Check out my video(Saturn S series Parking Brake Handle Repair)there is something wrong with the handle.

  • were gloves really necicary?

  • @torchgun The gloves kept the camera from alternating the lighting in this video.

  • mines needs work taking it tomorrow to get it fixed. This is a sweet vid man.

  • Is that the same for the honda civic 2001 ????

  • @santo2500 I have not worked on a o1 civic but there has to be a adjuster somewhere near the handle.

  • @richpin06a Tanks you for the quick reply

  • i need to fix a 97 dodge neon emergency brake cable. anything??

  • 'Make sure the rear brakes are set properly and then..' Thank you dude thank you so much!!! no.

  • Hi richpin, how about a honda civic? a 1996 model

  • @09204418448 AS listed in the repair manual:

1.Remove the screw covers, screws and parking brake trim cover.

2.Turn the adjuster as needed to attain the proper adjustment.

  • Thanks alot!

  • do you know ow to adjust it on a 89 corolla gts?

  • @streetrc12 The 89 corolla has adjusting nuts similar in function and placement to this saturn.

  • u talk about things way too long

  • hey, does anyone know how to adjust a parking brake on a 2000 chrysler intrepid?

  • hi richpin 06a ,

  • muchas gracias por su tiempo y por explicar como acerlo gracias.

  • @pandita2608 spick

  • richpin06a - I have a toyota tacoma (1996).my parking brake works, but when i release my brake, the brake light stays on sometimes. If if push on the lever the light turns off. but if i hit a bump it comes on again. Do you have any suggesions????1

  • @atoxx1

My 98 SL1 does the exact same thing.. I was thinking of adjusting my brake lever to see if the problem persists. Rich have you encountered this?

  • thanx alot you really helped!!

  • Very nice and simple video. I have an 03 Mustang and wondered if you knew if the e-brake adjuster is located in the same spot as this car,

    Thanks

  • anyone knows if the honda accords have adjusting nuts by the arm?

  • thanks richpin06, i just adjusted my drums and my lever went from 4 clicks to just barely 2.

  • thanks for your videos - they have been a great help. The button to release my parking brake is broken on my 99 SL2. Do I need to remove the entire parking brake from the floorboard to replace the white plastic rod, spring and button? Wasn't sure if there was an easier way. Thanks.

  • Great! I''m on it right after I change the coolant

  • I was wondering how do you adjust the cable on a 92 SL2?

  • On 1992-94 models, remove the center console rear ashtray.

  • Wow, you sure keep your car clean Richpin! I wish I could train myself to keep my car as clean as yours. I love your videos, I've learned a great deal from them. Thanks a bunch!

  • hilarious! i asked my mechanic how involved it would be for him to adjust my parking brake a few months ago and he went into a long story about how they have to lift the car in the air and everything. i declined at the time, but it shows how ignorance can really cost you lots of time, money and aggravation. thanks richpin for educating me on my saturn! very grateful, here.

  • I like Snap on tools, they are the best, I also like Mac, Matco,SK

    Craftsman

What with the tape on the socket?

Could you do a tool lesson?

  • The tape was put on the socket as a reference point so that i could return to my starting point of my adjustment.

  • Hi, do you know I can adjust my parking brake on a 1988 Pontiac Firebirds GTA? Thank you, i like how you explain in this video!

  • I believe on this car the parking brake is adjusted at the equalizer nut which is located under the floor. You have to get the vehicle up in the air and get underneath to get at it.

  • Was that a Snap-On Screwdriver? I've seen you mostly use Craftsman Ratchets and such 'til now. Do you use any Park Tools on your bikes? ^_^

  • Yes that is a snap-on screwdriver, and yes i use park tools on my Trek 4300 Disc.
