Virtuedesktops is the app used for the desktop switching and effects, it isn't in development anymore now though because of the release of Spaces with Leopard.
I made this a long time ago back when I was excited about getting my new iMac. By saying "in action" I mean this is my iMac doing stuff.. this is how it performs.
Whats the make of your cheap laptop? Whats the OS? If it's Windows then id like to see it out perform a Mac 5 years older than it's self. Windows just can't compete with Mac OS X.
Id also love to see it "destroy" my MacBook Pro. And maybe even my iMac now I have installed Leopard on it.
To minimize all of a application's windows at the same time, hold down "alt" when minimizing. If you want to do that in slow motion, hold "alt-shift".
1. To do slow motion, simply hold the "shift" key when minimizing windows. You can also do slow motion with expose, dashboard and spaces.(spaces is Leopard-only)
2. Open a Finder window, right click(or ctrl-click) and go to "Show view options". When the window appears, go to the bottom and select "picture" for the background option. It will then let you select a picture.
i like mac alot better than windows, but linux compiz fusion puts them both to shame.
just search compiz fusion, nothing compares to it. Plus like all linux things they dont get paid to do those wonders, it's all from their free time and motive to share with others
Did you add additional memory? One video showed memory being added by pulling on a tab after removing the metal plate, is this how memory is taken out and added?
I only have 1GB of RAM in my iMac but I know that is it very easy to remove/upgrade, you simply undo two screws on the bottom, remove a metal plate, push the tabs, push the new memory in, make sure it's clipped in place, put the metal plate back on, Done.
Every time I "try" and use vista it either crashes or is so freakin slow. I don't know why Microsoft couldn't make an OS THIS fast. Freakin Vista/Bloatware.
Yeah, all it is really is Windows XP with a "better" theme.
Person next door to me has a new HP laptop running on Vista, I went on it and YUCK! it's so damn glitchy.. and so much has been copied from Mac OS X..
It's a loud of crap and you wont catch me ever using it.
Its more than that though, because even Microsoft admitted that the code library's in vista are so large that, that's why the OS is over 4GB big. XP runs SO good now - why do Windows users like myself NEED to upgrade? Whats wrong with XP? Nothing. But Microsoft needs to make an OS so bloated that they require you to upgrade at the same time filling the pockets of the hardware manufactures too. Its harmony for both hardware and software manufactures.
Most of it was Mac OS X's built-in effects, the desktop switching was "Virtue Desktops"(google it) and for the "suck" minimizing effect I used a program called "Deeper"(go onto the download section of the Apple site and search for it or search "deeper for mac OS X" in Google). :)
Leopard will attack and rip apart that flinstones operation system Vista. Vista is the name you would call an island paradise, but Leopard will be unleashed this October, and take over your precious Vista paradise. Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, the best OS from Apple and the Vista killer.
iMacs are easy to upgrade, it's just a case of getting them open.. thats the hard part, once it's open it has a fully upgradable CPU, hard drive and Disc drive. The RAM is so easy to upgrade that even my Grandad can do it.
But anyway, It's not like you NEED to upgrade them, thanks to OS X you can run Software and games that, on windows, would never run on that kind of hardware.
This is terrible, it doesn't crash, hang, slowdown or give you blue screen errors. who the hell wants that? Microsoft tells us what we want and thats the best way.
( joking aside, nice video mate. makes me look at this wondows screen with hatred ) lol
Hah, yes every mac is upgradable, but the Imac you own (And the Imac I own myself, just like you) are very hard to upgrade when it comes to hardware. Expandebility is almost impossible, unless you're willign to send it back to Apple so that THEY can put parts in there for you. (Which is really something you should leave for the pro's to do.) So, the Macs suck for hardware upgrading. (Mac Pro, as an exception) But otherwise, it's a great thing.

Also, how do you minimize multiple windows at once?

Hope this helped! :)

Two questions.
1. How do you do the slow motion thing?
2. How do you background finder windows?
PLZ answer!

Yes, I used to use Ubuntu, I used it for about 9 months but the eye candy in Linux gets very annoying and distracting and is very unproductive.
The eye candy in Mac OS X is much more productive and helps a lot.
Also, compiz are meant to be working on a Mac version.

You are very wrong there. Every Mac is upgradeable.
Also there is no need to upgrade a Mac really.. Thanks to OS X even Low hardware specs on a Mac can outperform High hardware specs on a PC.
There is not one thing that a PC can do that a Mac can't.
This video shows that iMacs CAN be upgraded: youtube.come/watch?v=FQslXT1Se3w
(change 'come' to 'com' in the URL)
