  • @taofeldamus I have the same vacuum now

But its a brush control one

  • How's its clutch? Ever needed to replace it?

  • you the one suck up water in that dyson does it still work ?

  • @addamsmith yep, still working like a champ.

  • I like Dysons a lot..........I have A 2 speed Rainbow that is five years old.......I check the hepa filter and inside the rainbow and the hepa is still clean and I use the crap out of it but I take care of it........I can't believe you sucked up water with this. That's pretty cool......I'll bet it does clean all the crevices in the bin and cyclones really well.

  • Its 2011, my Dyson DC07 is still living :)

  • I got the same one after 10 years !!

  • rocknrollohio, for a small business owner you lack knowledge as to how modern business works. Everything is a throw-away. 20-years ago Microwave ovens cost $500 and would last for 10-20 years. The same size microwave now costs $179, and lasts 2-3 years, 5 if you're lucky. The only way this country survives in the current economic model is cheap overseas labor and much cheaper, poorer quality construction. This reduces the cost to something feasible and keeps consumers consuming. 7-years is fine.

  • Hang on 7 years,My Hoover Junior was built in 1960,along with my Constellation and the Dustette all work perfectly well today and they don't sound like an A380 over Heathrow!!

  • What about something I read in consumer reports where a Panasonic or Mile beat the Dyson and was cheaper?? Also the American consumer is only concerned with price, why else does Walmart thrive, so these will never sell well in the US .... sadly

  • What about something I read in consumer reports where a Panasonic or Mile beat the Dyson and was cheaper??

  • wheres your other dyson dc07 video? you know the one where you suck up a gum ball and some other pieces of dirt and by the way i read a review i thought it was you hehe do you have a son who lost a tooth in your bedroom and you found it in the dyson bin when you emptied it out onto newspaper and you use it for unclogging sinks :)

  • @Parwaz786 Wow, you have a good memory. I did have a video showing that and explaining about finding my son's tooth, lol. I also recovered a very small watch screw using the vacuum from the carpet. (smaller than a grain of sand) I don't remember if I deleted the video or what to be honest!

  • @taofledermaus lol thought it was you hehe i have got this exactly same dyson as you but mines not yellow its blue its fantastic i got mine on 10th october 2010 it just cost me £3! lol or in america $3 lol

  • This guy is a loser. It's a VACUUM CLEANER. If you pay for one it should work. Only a complete whackjob would be surprised if it didn't.

  • I have a vacuum that is 8 yers old and it still works

  • To taofledermaus-in the seven years that you've owned this Dyson, have you had to have the clutch replaced? I have a DC07 from 2004 that I recently had the clutch replaced because the brush roll wasn't picking up very well. The brush roll started to spin slowly and wasn't grooming the carpet very well. Just curious if you've had to replace anything on your vacuum?

  • @JJ9715 It's been a while since I posted this and we still have not had any issues with the Dyson. I'm surprised the belt hasn't even worn out yet. About the only servicing I do to the vacuum is clean the filters and trim the inevitable hair from the brush roll.

  • @taofledermaus the belt is supposed to last a lifetime on the clutched dyson models :) so it shouldnt break

  • y r u using the hose up-side down? u pull a long shaft from the inside of the hose and flip it over to lock in place. i hope that is not how you use the dyson hose for the past 7 years because it's wrong. LOL

  • @topgearfan2012 Oh no! No wonder everything works backwards on it! I had the hose upside down!

  • @taofledermaus Does Dyson pay you? If not, why are you doing commercials for them?

  • @timfitts No company pays me for any product test I might do. I get paid by Youtube to make videos. For whatever reason, there is a tremendous interest in vacuum cleaners on Youtube. I try to make videos that people will watch.

  • hi, have you ever tried a dc17, dc28 or a dc14?i think the best for you is the dc17 but dc28 is great the dc17 groms carpet so well! its better than the dc07 and dc14 trust me, you will love it! :D

  • u shuld up grade!

  • i got this from a carboot sale for 50p and it worked perfecty

  • Comment removed

  • hey look....a vacuum cleaner

  • Thanks taofledermaus for the video. I just got a reconditioned unit and it's good to know this vacuum is built to last. Making a video about well something works always bring out the My-toy-is-better-than-your-toy factions!

  • You are using the wand extension the wrong way round. You are supposed to remove it, put the handle end in the flex hose and the attachment on the end of the metal pole. Look at the diagram on the side of the handle.

  • @tas14fly My user manual says there are two options for mounting the pole in extension mode. Either side works. I also have two diagrams on my handle that illustrate both ways.

  • The dude kept trying to fix it, never did even after 1000 trys.

  • Is that the one I left at the curb years ago when it was new? My ears were still ringing when I walked it out, the thing has a decibel level higher than most cities allow. On top of that they don't work worth a damn. I do know the difference, because I own a good vacuum, it's called a Kirby.

  • 7 years wtf? have you only used it once a year? go over the floor after you vacuum with the dyson with even a $99.00 vacuum and it will pick up more.

  • i had my dc04 for 12 years, still works like a charm !

  • dyson sucks! Get an electrolux model 30.

  • I bought a dyson airblade for my central powder room since I love entertaining in my house. it's doing a great job but, I don't know about my electricity bills yet.

  • nowadays, companies make their products more susceptible to breaking unlike years back then. like the era of old GE and CARRIER.

most companies are happy receiving broken appliances for repairs since they earn money.

What i've noticed with dyson is that, they're different. products are INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE but when you come to think of it. the durability of it is astounding. i've never purchased anything that made me feel proud of buying something unless its from dyson. dyson fanboy indeed LOL

  • I'm glad I ran into this video a few weeks ago before deciding whether or not to purchase a dyson dc22 for small cleaning jobs at my new house.

I have a central vacuum system installed by zanussi it's amazing to not have to empty the vacuum every use and it's in the garage. my house is silent and no dusty noses.

The dc22 on the other hand. makes my jaw drop. it's great for small carpet mess and whenever laziness attacks me from plugging the massive hose of my zanussi onto the wall. powerful.

  • There we go bringing the 2002's. Haha. I got a DC07 Animal in 2002 mine still works too.

  • This really amazes me that people are excited that a vacuum still works after 7 years, They must not have a lot of faith in there appliances, I have a cleaning business and have 5 Sanyo vacuums that are 16 years old and still going strong, My friends mother has a Kirby 500 series that she got as a wedding gift in 1959 and it still works and is used daily. 7 years for something that sells for $500 is not impressive

  • I have wristwatches that are 70+ years old that are still working. I think you made some great points and it's not just about vacuum cleaners, but nearly everything we buy these days. Things today are designed to have a limited lifespan- from cars to computers to TV's and vacuums. Instead of quality, the focus is on quantity and sales and keeping shareholders happy. Why build something that will last when you can sell them the same item again a few years down the road?

  • @rocknrollohio Yep,and I bought a royal metal vacuum and its the last vacuum I will ever have to buy!!!!

  • Yes a dyson will last for a long time. Because my dyson DC07 has lasted 8 years and aint broke yet. my vacuum is strong because it has been in water and has sucked up nails paper wood and hair an has not broke

  • I had that vacuum... it was weird!!! the same day that we bought it we returned it because of the vacuum would start to scream after vacuuming a small section of my house... there was no paper in the vacuum it would just scream... and the bissell that we had before we got this vacuum just needed its filter washed... which I forgot about... and that was about four five years ago! and that very same bissell vacuum broke about a month ago and now I have a new one...

  • this is 2 be expected as dysons are built to last and are without a dout the best vacuum out there! in fact you would have to be clinically insane to get any other vacuum!

  • "It's been an AWESOME vacuum cleaner"

Anytime someone says awesome, I discount them out of hand.

  • That's pretty awesome.

  • I have one. Love it!

  • just like katherine!

  • Dysons rule forget about all this Kirby and Oreck crap which in some ways I find more overpriced than Dyson and still use bags it's also funny how some other companies like Hoover have been sued by Dyson for trying to copy their design. My mum has had the Dyson DC01 since it was first bought out 15 years now I think, just bought her the new Dyson DC25 Ball and she loves it. Would never go back to a normal hoover you spend too much money on the bags alone.

  • Um 7 years is like new for any vacuum. Try kirby. 40 years and runs like new.... never will happen with dyson.

  • I don't understand why the instructions say do not submerge in water, but you can clean it with water. I did clean mine because it started to smell like I owned 10 dogs when I used it. Now all is well.

  • I think they are concerned with sucking water into the motor, but it would take a lot of water, and some carelessness. With the foam filter between the canister and the motor, droplets of water won't get past. Washing the canister, leaving it wet and then using the vacuum will produce some nasty smells. I make sure it is dry for this reason. I've sucked up water with my Dyson on purpose, unclogging sinks and sucking up spills. It has to be cleaned/dried after doing this.

  • I think I am more abusive with my Dyson than most users, hehe. I haven't destroyed it yet.

  • big deal my moms hoover elite is 18 years old and does not loose suction when the bag is full

  • How do you know when to stop vacuuming if it keeps sucking when the bag is full? Does the bag get all big and blow up like in the cartoons?

  • you unzip the outer cloth bag and check the inner paper bag every so often

  • Can the cyclone part of the Dyson be cleaned with water? Please let me know.

  • Yes, I clean mine out all the time. The key though it so make sure you dry it out by leaving it opened up and in a warm location or it might start smelling.

  • There are new vacuums being sold that are similar to Dysons but for a lot less money. There is one by Hoover called the Whisper, and it costs $98.88 and has simiar technology to Dyson's Root Cyclone. The Hoover Whisper even has a washable hepa filter and brush roll shut off switch.

  • Still have our DC07 after almost as long here, with general cleaning and care it has served us well without any problems. We love our Dyson!

  • Does anybody have any of the original fantom vacuum cleaners (Fantom Thunder, Fury, Cyclone Xt, Lightning)? The fantoms are based on Dyson's dual cyclone. If anyone has a fantom, could you make a video of it?

  • The vacuum we owned before we got the Dyson was a Fantom. It only lasted a couple years before it eventually died off. It started eating up belts, and the suction tapered off until it just didn't work at all. The HEPA filters for it were expensive too, I believe around $80, which only lasted a year. It lacked the small cyclones which make the Dyson effective at spinning out extremely small particles. I like the bagless vacs because you can see your progress by the amount of dirt collected.

  • It should also be noted that the reason the Fantom is no longer made, IS because it was junk, and word spread quickly about that. I still remember the slick info-mercials of the Fantom.

  • I heard that too about the fantoms. I guess the plastic parts break easily, and since they are out of business getting parts for a broken fantom is a joke.

  • they are not made anymore. they are now owned by euro pro and they trashed the design. Dyson is going to be going that way as well. Fantom had a good run aroud the same time frame as dyson and i notice there are no dyson commercials on tv anymore. but now they are selling them on qvc and hsn.

  • WOW a dyson that lasted more than 24 months.

70% go wrong within 2 years. Nice to see one that is 7 years old.

  • I'm surprised they are still in business if their mortality rate is that high. Bad news spreads quickly.

  • people change their stuff more often these days! Vacuums should last about 12-15 years like Numatics do!

  • Lol, yes. I remember my parent's Electrolux. It was ancient by the time I came along. It was that cool mint green, all metal with chrome accents. I remember you could use it to inflate beach balls and stuff with too.

  • Ours is still working... but not nearly as well as advertised. It gave us trouble when we first got it, but it was OK. Dsyon fixed it. I think that problem is that most people buy the POS base model at Wal-Mart.

  • When we got this one, there was only this model, and the "animal" model which was basically exactly the same as the 07, but a different color and had an extra attachment, but was $100 more. I actually vacuum the garage and patio with ours, sucked up water with it, and I've yet to destroy it. Believe me, I've tried.

  • i im gonna buy one but ar that any good at all. Thank You Jamie

  • Nice review. I personally won't own a Dyson but I'm not here to critisize your opinions. I am glad to hear that you have had good luck with it. This is probly one of the only posotive videos towards that company. You did quite well explaining the features and options of this machine. I do have a friend with this model and she too has had good luck so far.

  • What I have found on Youtube is most of the criticism of the Dyson is from salemen trying to sell you another, much more expensive brand of vacuum. Since I am not trying to sell people anything, I hope that gives me a little credibility. The Dyson has a few design faults, mostly the edge cleaning is pretty poor. This vacuum has stood the test of time and abuse by me, and that was the point of this video.

  • Some people dont seem to like dyson but they are the best vacuum I personally have ever had. My friends also like them alot.

  • The good points of the Dyson is it is well made, the suction is great, it looks cool, and it is HEPA certified. The weak points of it is the edge-cleaning is not good, the hair getting wrapped around the brush, and brush action seems weaker than other brands. Sure, there are probably better vacs out there, but you definitely pay for the slight performance increase.

  • Very acward to review a vacume cleaner.. we have the same think at hour house and NOO IT IS NTO LIGHT!! it is very nice and works well and if you are a kid and your mom or dad amkes you clean and you dont want to be yelled at or complained to ask your mom for t his

  • Can you tell, I was bored today? lol There seems to be a LOT of debate about vacuum cleaners on YT. Now, Roombas, those things are a joke. Ohh, another idea for a video lol
