My peak controller isn't working it seems. In the peak controller window, the bars don't flash up and down with my beat, like in your video. Also it doesn't effect my Sytrus synth at all...

I cant really make them seem louder and more apparent, they always get blocked out my the Melody of something else. Is it just the sample? or are there certain settings i have to have in order to make them sound like yours?
How do you delete a track the mixer my master track has another track linked it. Each time scroll across, it sounds differently via effect, and also non of the other track are responding, so how do I return the main track back to the master track?
@renshawhu You messed up - you shouldn't have problems like this - I suspect that your fpc is not assigned a track number (covered in video 1). or the peak controller is on the master or insert - instead of a send track (explained in this video). The Mixer is confusing at first - you get use to it over time, for a while you'll run into some weirdness unyil you get more familiar with it. I should cover common mistkes in more detail in another vido
@rformidable it's not a gate effect or a limiter either-it's a peak controller. It gets the peak data from the audio and applies that to whatever you have it linked too. What I did is a pumping effect that make the synth volume pulse with the drum track. Without it, the synth would sound a bit out of sync/flat.
well, i'm still sort of confused on this, i gotta watch this tut again, and play with it while you're doing it......(didn't get a chance to do that before)
@solo0nine I don't give recommendations for hardware = it's not my place to make decisions like that for anyone - so many people have a different point of view about things like this. Shop around - stick to your budget. If your unsure just make sure you purchase with a return policy. Keep in mind that audio quality is not an issue at all - cheap or expensive - they all playback very high quality these days. The important thing is signal speed (latency) and flexibility(connections).
Why does my last note in the piano roll right before the loop is about to re-loop sound so low? It's like it's velocity is lowered but I have double checked now so many times but I just seem not to able to fix it, any ideas about this man? By the way I love your videos they have helped me alot! :)
Yeah i am having the same problem splitting the pattern by channel, i have tried the things you have listed above all mighty FL Guru but i am still not seeing Patterns>Split By Channel. Other then that amazing job my friend keep it up <3
@Preston1944 click on the step sequencer right where it says "Pattern" on the title bar - a menu drops down it's there - you'll see "split by channel"- This splits the you pattern that you have selected.to new patterns. The new patterns get created and renamed to reflect the channel name too. It's a big time saver
wht version are you using in this video im not shown pattern in the drop down menu of playlist.. just loved that function of split by channel, but i cant see it, using v10
@gilladjoko same option is on the step sequencer drop down menu now. This was FL Beta 10 - they move it (sigh) - since then. I liked it in the playlist myself.
@freakishgth Yes - You have many ways to select patterns, first - try, ctrl+alt+F8 (cool huh) - Keep in mind that if a pattern is already in the playlist, clicking on its title bar will make it the selected pattern. There is a pattern drop down at the top of the playlist. The playback panel pattern selector is some thing I llike also - rollover the pattern number next to your tempo - click and drag.
@ste1438 finally selection through the library browser. Expand current project patterns, you can select patterns there too. It's all a matter of preference - lot's of options, I don't cover it anymore because it confuses the hell out of people - and it's alway being updated, but in the end it's just an issue where everyone discovers there own preference after using FL Studio for a while.
Thanks for the videos Ste1438. Just a quick question: Why is my FPC 808kit 19 different from yours? Instead of "kick" I have "kick drum" (that sounds completly different to the normal kick you use). Tried to google this, but cant fint anything relevant. Might it be because I use FL 10? Again, thanks for the tutorials! :)
Maybe i sound stupid but i dont understand why you assigned the kick to output 1 on the FPC and then it ends up on 4 when it goes into the mixer track?
@kevo8t6 The entire drum kit (Kick,hat,snare...) has it's own mixer track. What if I want to use a bass boost on the Kick only?. I wouldn't want to put that on the whole kit. I give the kick an offset value of 1 in the FPC .. If the FPC is on fx track 3 --> the kick ends up on track 4.

Your sequence can only exist on the blocks or in the piano roll - not both - for obvious reasons, if you take a moment to think about it,
The other possible cause - looking at the wrong channel. Check filter group, make sure you not in an automation clip with the same name.
Hmmmm 09:10 confuses me. I dont understand how i can assignt the kick to a individual mixer track . I set the output to one in FPC, but the kick doesnt show up in the chanel mixer.
@GustavsRe That is because the output does not assign anything to the mixer - it offsets. You have to put the FPC on its own mixer track first - then it will work by off setting from the mixer track you assigned to the FPC. It's not intuitive for technical reasons, but its really useful that you can sequence it all on the same piano roll track and split the individual notes like that. Easier to set up then it sounds too - the reason for the video, but somehow you missed a step.
I'm wondering why does my FLstudio produces different sound than in your video. Your sound is a lot more richer, and mine feels kinda flat. For example the FPC Dance 07 at 03:28.
I love your tutorials, but sometimes you go really fast and I can't tell what you did. I'll replay several times but still can't tell what you did. For example when you are in the piano roll and you zoom, I can only get it to zoom so that the notes are small or tall, but I can't figure out how you are zooming the bars left and right.
@rpotter1770 there are many ways to zoom. You can use the numbers 1-4 above the alpha section of your keyboard, hold ctrl+(hold)right click and lasso a section or ctrl+(tap)left click to zoom out to full screen, hold ctrl and scroll mouse wheel.... many more options but these are the ones I usually use.
I have a question and i don't know if its because im using crack fl studio or what.
But i used fl studio 10.0.8 producer edition and its crack. but on the side panel where you was talking about cympals, drums, and other stuff. I don'l have shared data. I have IL Shared Data and its not under there; however i have to go under packs and the stuff that you were talking about is under a folder called legacy under packs and it won't even play a sound. Hey so I'm a beginner with FL studio 10 and I was wondering when you send the beat that was in the mixer preset to the piano roll how do you see the names of the instruments used in the beat? All I see are piano keys even when I switch to the ABC above the keys..
@jboychitown Only works with certain plugins - FPC and SliceX for example. There are view toggle buttons above the keyboard in the piano roll. I wish i could mention more of these little details - but there are so many minor details that it's impossible to leave no stone unturned.
@ste1438 So since I cant change up the beat pattern say after the 4th bar like you can by copy pasting and moving a couple notes to switch up the beat for the chorus or a start of a verse, how can I change it up without having to create a whole new beat that matches? Because when I try and copy and paste to the next bar like you do it messes up my drum pattern and starts to overlap and what not. So all I want to know is if there is any easy way for me to change up a couple notes like you do.
@jboychitown I did it that way because I couldn't use a short cut key during screen recording. Select what you want to copy down - press Ctrl+B - it goes to the next bar - no overlapping. Make sure you have FL Studio 10.

Or do they come complimentary with FL Studio 10?

@JerkySplash you can put folders in the browser by pressing F10 and in the file section you can add directories. The plugin picker is a little more complicated and I cant explain in the amount of characters youtube allows me to. I know there are videos online of how to do it though.
i really wish you would make more of these series, i'm going through them a second time, and taking notes this time so that i could remember everything.

You are really easy to follow and explain things very well. I get stuck sometimes when you use shortcuts/keyboard strokes, just a quick mention of the keystrokes as you do them would be great. Hey ste1438 I have been messing around with fl studio 10 producer version and I am having a problem that when I go to add different patterns into the song playlist they will change each other. Take an example like if I put Sytrus in pattern 2 then in the same spot in Pattern 1 Sytrus will appear. How do I solve this problem so everything stays the first time. Thanks

Hello:) i have been using fl studio for about 2 and a half month now, and i got this problem that i can only make 1 noise at a time! a bit hard to explain but i will try. i cant make several type of noises fit in one place of a song, is there a tutorial on youtube or something how you do that? all i manage to do is a bassline and a kick/clap line:S please help me anyone, that would be awesome;) i just cant make several beats sound good together heh;) i hope someone understand what i mean!=)
@zipproductionz Your problem boils down to understanding basic Music theory: scales, chords, melody, and harmony. Watch music theory primer videos and "create a remake in no time flat" too. Anyone that starts learning how to play an instrument, will start with popular works by others and naturally develop toward creating there own music and style. After all, FL studio and any other DAW can be thought of as musical instruments themselves with a lot of functionality.

hey on the demo i used to be able to record melodies with my midi and they would automatically go to the piano roll and on the track but now i have the full verison and it wont work and i dont want to click all my melodies onto my piano roll PLZ RESPOND
Fruity loops has been make my songs sound weird and choppy lately. I think this is because when a certain note is a high velocity, then when ever it plays, all the other instruments get quieter. Then by the time I finish my beat the volume goes up and down and the song sounds terrible and drowned out. Is there anyway I can change that? PLEASE RESPOND
@Fruity1oopsProducer Be careful with limiters and compressors - Try equalization. Experiment until you get the sound you want. You have full control over the sound - you can't say that FL Studio makes your songs sound choppy ,or that it screws up your velocity. Your doing it, not FL Studio. Most people use FL Studio without running into problems like that. FL Studio only does what you tell it to.
@ste1438 i have similar trouble at times. for example in a dubstep song im making, its fine apart from when i build up lots of kicks with osc, when its about to drop the instruments dont stay at an even volume. is this the same problem? i need the kick and the oscilator to both come through clean, do i just need to play around with eq?

@Benettonkkb It's in the beta version, not a public feature yet. It will be in FL Studio 10. You'll find the option in the drop down menu in the mixer panel, if the feature is available, I don't think it is in version 9, unless it's a beta test version though.
@ste1438 I got a question about the piano roll. How come when im working with my drum pattern I can only stretch my pattern to a certain length. Like when I look at your step sequencer at 4:32 my FPC pattern only stretches halfway. And then leaves a space so that nothing plays until the pattern loops itself over agin.

@ycantihaveone Peak controller? It's not easy to set up the first time. It's incredibly useful though, and important to understand. Just try to figure out what your doing wrong. I'm going to focus on the peak controller in an upcoming video soon.
Also, "patterns" isn't in my playlists drop down menu. Is there something wrong with my FL Studio?

Hey so I'm a beginner with FL studio 10 and I was wondering when you send the beat that was in the mixer preset to the piano roll how do you see the names of the instruments used in the beat? All I see are piano keys even when I switch to the ABC above the keys..

@jboychitown Only works with certain plugins - FPC and SliceX for example. There are view toggle buttons above the keyboard in the piano roll. I wish i could mention more of these little details - but there are so many minor details that it's impossible to leave no stone unturned.

@ste1438 So since I cant change up the beat pattern say after the 4th bar like you can by copy pasting and moving a couple notes to switch up the beat for the chorus or a start of a verse, how can I change it up without having to create a whole new beat that matches? Because when I try and copy and paste to the next bar like you do it messes up my drum pattern and starts to overlap and what not. So all I want to know is if there is any easy way for me to change up a couple notes like you do.

@jboychitown I did it that way because I couldn't use a short cut key during screen recording. Select what you want to copy down - press Ctrl+B - it goes to the next bar - no overlapping. Make sure you have FL Studio 10.

I will be asking more questions when I come across more problems or any kind of confusion but thanks for answering me so far. One more question...where can I download those 808 beat patterns? Or do they come complimentary with FL Studio 10?

I love how as the videos go on less and less people view them lol shows the amount of people who quit haha Im pretty advanced at fl and even though i already know alot of fl its good to go back to the basics, and see if theres things i dont know or forgot about

@JerkySplash you can put folders in the browser by pressing F10 and in the file section you can add directories. The plugin picker is a little more complicated and I cant explain in the amount of characters youtube allows me to. I know there are videos online of how to do it though.

While I'm waiting for Vid 4 to load I want to say thanks again, so much! These videos are AMAZING. I have learned a whole lot just in the first three videos. You are really easy to follow and explain things very well. I get stuck sometimes when you use shortcuts/keyboard strokes, just a quick mention of the keystrokes as you do them would be great. I know its my own fault but thought I'd mention it. Still, these videos are better than I could have ever imagined. Sincere thanks & respect!

Hey ste1438 I have been messing around with fl studio 10 producer version and I am having a problem that when I go to add different patterns into the song playlist they will change each other. Take an example like if I put Sytrus in pattern 2 then in the same spot in Pattern 1 Sytrus will appear. How do I solve this problem so everything stays the first time. Thanks

hei ste1438 I am watching your videos for a few months now, and I'm trying to make a song now but I have an issue, I have a sample made with sytrus and when I put it into the song mode it lasts for the whole song and I do not want that I want to start and finish were I want , how would I do that. Hello:) i have been using fl studio for about 2 and a half month now, and i got this problem that i can only make 1 noise at a time! a bit hard to explain but i will try. i cant make several type of noises fit in one place of a song, is there a tutorial on youtube or something how you do that? all i manage to do is a bassline and a kick/clap line:S please help me anyone, that would be awesome;) i just cant make several beats sound good together heh;) i hope someone understand what i mean!=)

@zipproductionz Your problem boils down to understanding basic Music theory: scales, chords, melody, and harmony. Watch music theory primer videos and "create a remake in no time flat" too. Anyone that starts learning how to play an instrument, will start with popular works by others and naturally develop toward creating there own music and style. After all, FL studio and any other DAW can be thought of as musical instruments themselves with a lot of functionality.

btw spot ON with what you said at the end its NOT fair for you to come in with your kick ass project ALREADY done and it sounds great and what not but you dont get a feel for how you made it. you really showed that you CAN get something done in a relatively short amount of time pulled out of your ass with just a few idea's once again. your my guy for tuts. make MOAR.

this was a really nice tut. never really used the peak controller much. but you just showed me some very quick and easy ways to integrate it into almost anything. ^_^. i think you have some of the best fl tutorials on youtube. Hey Ste1438... is the peak controller driven from the amplitude of the drum tracks once you sent it to them?? and in return is volume knob for sytrus playing the same peak pattern from the drum tracks through the peak controller??

@nicedeck52 It was moved from the playlist menu to the step sequencer menu. Click on the pattern drop down and you will see it.

I was wondering a question like the person below me. If I wanted to get only the lyrics from one song, is there any way that you know about that I would I be able to do that? And if so what tool would I use. I've been trying to find acapellas of some songs but most of the ones I want to remix don't have acapellas (Or at least I can't find any). hey on the demo i used to be able to record melodies with my midi and they would automatically go to the piano roll and on the track but now i have the full verison and it wont work and i dont want to click all my melodies onto my piano roll PLZ RESPOND

Fruity loops has been make my songs sound weird and choppy lately. I think this is because when a certain note is a high velocity, then when ever it plays, all the other instruments get quieter. Then by the time I finish my beat the volume goes up and down and the song sounds terrible and drowned out. Is there anyway I can change that? PLEASE RESPOND

@Fruity1oopsProducer Be careful with limiters and compressors - Try equalization. Experiment until you get the sound you want. You have full control over the sound - you can't say that FL Studio makes your songs sound choppy ,or that it screws up your velocity. Your doing it, not FL Studio. Most people use FL Studio without running into problems like that. FL Studio only does what you tell it to.

@ste1438 i have similar trouble at times. for example in a dubstep song im making, its fine apart from when i build up lots of kicks with osc, when its about to drop the instruments dont stay at an even volume. is this the same problem? i need the kick and the oscilator to both come through clean, do i just need to play around with eq?

why is it that when he assigns the channels to output 1 it ends up in the mixer track as channel four. same thing happens when he assigns the high hat, it goes to 5.

Quick question: How do you get your individual mixer channels to show the blips that way? Mine just shows the sound meter going up and down.
I have FL Studio 9 XXL producer Edition, in case that means anything

@Benettonkkb It's in the beta version, not a public feature yet. It will be in FL Studio 10. You'll find the option in the drop down menu in the mixer panel, if the feature is available, I don't think it is in version 9, unless it's a beta test version though.

@ste1438 I got a question about the piano roll. How come when im working with my drum pattern I can only stretch my pattern to a certain length. Like when I look at your step sequencer at 4:32 my FPC pattern only stretches halfway. And then leaves a space so that nothing plays until the pattern loops itself over agin.

@ycantihaveone Peak controller? It's not easy to set up the first time. It's incredibly useful though, and important to understand. Just try to figure out what your doing wrong. I'm going to focus on the peak controller in an upcoming video soon.
