  • just before you hit the bridge at 1:18 all used to be grass where you're driving(the road was just 2 lanes on your left (opposing traffic) we used to take the dirt bikes up there and race cars haha so fun. i live like right down the road from there.

  • VMP is a bit of a misnomer; in respect of Veterans (good call); but expressway? You did a good job at highlighting on the bottom left-hand side of the screen of what we're approaching/what is coming up. But the name: expressway? with at-grade lighted crossings intermittently here. The potential (as mentioned with various skid marks on the pavement) are obvious.

Great job of filming and documenting play-by-play approaches. I still like it.

  • Hey cool, I work at that construction site on the left, near the beginning of the video!

  • I hope you're not filming and driving...if texting and driving is illegal, I can only imagine filming and driving....LOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • @Thomas19samohT Read the description... the camera is attached to a tripod attached to the dashboard. Sorta like those police chase shows.

  • You know haljackey...I am somewhat disappointed in this city...not that I don't like it...sure it's friendly for the most part, but when I mean "disappointed within the city"..I mean disappointed at a lack of fucking highways...I am a highway/road enthusiast myself...I would rather look at the scenery than drive on a highway...seriously.

  • London, however, only has 401/401/Highbury Ave and the VMP....like seriously...and they're all in the worst locations possible...except Highbury ave, which is too short... :/ I hope the city ramps up their planned highways soon...or at least build some subways, trams, LRT (Bus Rapid Transit is decent-ish...flexible, but imho, it's not good enough imho)...abut I think streetcars might have to be excluded, because they are 1880's/1890's technology (perhaps earlier? ^^ )

  • meant 401/402/Highbury/VMP btw, my bad for typo...

  • @RoninMastaFX The only freeway plans the city has is to one day put interchanges on the VMP and maybe build a route in the west side, but I doubt that route will ever get built.

No plans for rapid transit/LRT. Maybe minimal BRT in the future. Don't count on streetcars either.

I have nearly given up all hope in the city's transport division. Either the province needs to step in to do something or they should hire me to fix up the mess :P.

  • But whatever, I'm glad smart-moves is happening soon, because We're at a turning point now, where if the government doesn't stand up and start building some improvement, then this city will be going no-where but downhill...slowly... :(

  • Interesting. Will the Ontario Ministry of Transportation take over this route, upon its complete upgrade to partial freeway-status?

  • @FreewayBrent No, I'm pretty sure it will always be "owned" by the city of London.

Way back when, this route was called Highway 100. It was "downloaded" to the city in the 90's and became known as Airport Road. When the widening was done, it was again renamed as the VMP.
