My buddy in Tucson had a '71 vette LS-6 also. We put headers on it, drove it to the track, borrowed a set of slicks while there and finally turned a 12.34 at 110mph. There was a LOT more left to be had too, if we'd have known what to do. I saw the time slips myself.
the 63 427 4 speed fe was purpose built for drag racing.
