  • Can you dye metal yoyos this way?

  • can it dye legos

  • @PivotMMZ Yea

  • would the white RIT dye turn the plastic white?

  • @leopulga no

  • @FASCANTRON damn, is there a way of dying it white?

  • Do not leave the yoyo in the soln and walk away, you will probably DISSOLVE (not MELT) your yoyo.

MELTING is due to high temperature.

    DISSOLVING is due to solvent.

e.g. sugar dissolves in water. Sugar does not "melt" in water.

Some plastics dissolves in acetone, not melt.

    Ice melts at room temperature.

  • could this work on celcon plastic such as a speed maker

  • Comment removed

  • could this work on transformers? please respond!

  • use hot glue it wont bleed

  • can this work with yoyojams?

  • @black7o i haven't tried it

    if its the right plastic

but the metal rims might me tinted a bit

  • ggood i have my yo-yo a mario designe lol

  • i could colout it only in black or there are other?

  • is any of this materials dangerous

  • @duncandonutsert you wouldnt want acetone on your hands for too long, but soapy water cleans it off perfectly

  • wat is tongs?

  • @duncandonutsert used to pick up yoyo from the dye, protecting your hands

  • can u do this to a metal yoyo?

  • nope

  • @SmashMyElectronics It actually is possible to dye aluminum. I've anodized yo-yos in the past, they come out pretty cool.

  • @sykop8ntballer Except thats not dying

its a completely different process that will not be done by most people using what they have at their house. it needs HCl and other chemicals, plus and electric current

can be done at home. just difficult

  • RIP.

  • hey i heard that when dying a white yoyo black you should start w/ a navy blue and then do black, would it work if you just did black twice?

  • im not sure

im not picky about color differences

    i would assume so though

  • i heard hot glue works really well to make kind of a splash look, like wats on most clyw's

  • i havent tried it because i think it might be real hard to get off

  • what about celcon plastic

  • Celcon, like the new breed, only needs rit dye and boiling water.

  • what if the yoyo color is black?

  • then it wont work. lol

  • willn it work on a fhz

  • yes

  • Would this kinda work on a transparent yoyo? like a trans PGM?

  • it works real well on clear/trans yoyos

    but only if its polycarbonate

  • do you know how this would work on a yoyo with metal rims

  • does this work on discs for Disc Golf?

  • idk what kind of plastic that is

    sorry man

  • uh.....i dunno whatever the factory made plastic is.........im srry for not having that information

  • dont worry thats not your fault

  • At least Innova's Champion and Star plastics can be dyed with Rit, at least using just water and a stove, though it takes a bit more time. I've also seen a vid where the guy just quickly spread the dye using a brush onto the disc (it did have a template though) and it stuck pretty much instantly. Could work, you won't know until you try, I know I'm going to.

  • would this work on a freehand 2?

  • yes

  • can I dye a projam?

im just asking cuz it might need to be a specific plastic for it to be dyed

    thx

  • it does

im not sure what projams are

but ask on the modding section on yyn

  • Damn I tried this and it didn't work :(

I used 2 cups water, and eye-balled 1/4th of acetone, I put NES buttons and then I also tried a ps2 controller then put the whole rit dye packet in and I put the things in the dye and they din't do anything after 2 minutes! Help?

  • what yoyo is it

    this is meant for polycorbonates

i would take this matter to the nation on the mod board and ask someone what kind of plastic your yoyo is

  • Would it still work if I added glow in the dark powder to the solution?

And what can I use for a mask for really small text?

  • im not sure

    i would think so though

i like duct tape for detail but it can be tricky

  • Alright.

Well, the detail I'm talking about is like the text on an original gameboy xD

  • I haven't tried it but people tell me that it either changes colors slightly or just doesn't affect the text at all.

  • Also why do we need acetonefor this?

  • i weakens the plastic a bit so the dye sinks in

  • So what if my yoyo has a metal rim, does it matter? the dye wont stay on the rim right?

  • correct

but it might be tinted for a bit

  • what do you mean tinted? O.o

  • it might slightly change color for a short period of time

but i would just satin it off

  • sorry, but what does satin mean? (im new to this XD)

  • THANK YOU!

  • can you use mineral spirits in place of acetone?

  • i dont think you can

    but just go buy some

    it isnt that expensive

  • i can go to a sink rite now and drink water from the sewers of paris, france... just 1 sec...... aaaah... refreshing! lol

  • lol

    can you send me some?

    im running low

  • boiled, used aceton, fhz

  • use rit dye?

    what were your proportions?

  • somethings wrong it didnt dye it

  • what you dye?

    use acetone?

    oh did you heat water?

i dont think thats in vid

i boil the water then as soon as it starts boiling begin to setup for dye

p.s. do outside or garage to keep clean

    watch out for flash boils

  • Dude do I need to remove the axle 1st before dyinng it?

And where could I buy RIT dye?

Im going to dye my projam

    THX

  • you caN Get rit dye at the grocery store

    or ask ur mom

my mom is the one who filled me in on where it is

u dont need to remove the axle, unless axles rust

which im 90% positive they dont

  • ohh ok thx =D

but do I really need to use rit dye? or can I use other dyes?

    THX again

  • everyone i know uses rit dye

but i guess u can use other fabric dye(might not work)

its only about $2.50 at a grocery store

  • ok!

    thx again

ill try to show u the result if im done

  • houdini truly lives. great video.
