How well do you like the JM4 for live shows?

hey, im having troubles with putting recordings that i have on the SD card onto my computer. the file that its saved as is not playable on my computer. how do you make it so that its saved as a different file and its playable??

@12kouav you need to make sure you are saving your files as WAV. This is an option in the Save menu on teh JM4. Once you do that, you can play these WAV files in most media players.

@12kouav you may want to try reformatting your SD Card on your computer or directly on the JM4. You may want to consider contacting our tech support if you continue to have issues so they can dive in deeper with you and help you troubleshoot.

@Embrioridkiller look for a FAT16 1 or 2 GB SD Card. The name brand does not matter as long as the specs match what I just called out.

can you play without the drums? and just loop over yourself.... basically i'm wanting to do something like record the backing tune with my guitar, then the lead part, then add the drum beat with a microphone beat boxing... then singing over the top of that. Would that be possible?

@joff93 Yes, you can play without the backing songs or drum tracks and just use the device as an independent looper. You’d be able to do everything you mentioned.

1. click on drums/songs button

2. select songs tab then scroll up to first song and hit the left button.

3. do the same with drums.

4. Go to recordings and record.

you'll see no drums being played or any song.

there is a shortcut in the manual i guess -- its press the undo button along with record button (lets you record without a song/drum beat).

I‘m wondering can this "thing" simply work as a loop station as Boss RC2 does and perform well with other od,dis,delay,reverb,chorus or any other pedals? Or does it just work as multi effects like me25 or gt10? thanks！

@keffsgy Yes any pedal will work with any amp when the amp is on a clean channel.Use your favorite pedals or use the jm-4 presets or combine both for some crazy effects.I hope this helps.I have done it with some great results.

Hey does the JM4 have an Octave setting for making your guitar do a quick bass line... or maybe a feature like some loopers have to pitch it down an octave?

@JoeDonLucas The JM4 cannot record both Mic and Guitar at the same time so it may not be optimal for you in regards to demoing. You can jam and monitor vocals and guitar at the same time though so for practice it will work fine. I’d suggest plugging your mic into your TC Helicon and then coming out of the TC device into the Mic input of the JM4.

@SGLP93 Depends on what sound you are going for. If you want to use just the modeling from the JM4 then use the cleanest channel you have on your amp.

I have the jm4 and the spider iv 75, when i bypass the sounds on the pedal so that it is just my spider iv effects and record a loop, when i change the effect on my amp, the loop that i just recorded also changes the effect, is there any way of stopping this as i prefare using the effects on my spider iv?

The best way would be to insert the JM4 into the X3 Live's FX Loop.

I want to ask if I could use jm4 for the following application:

Lets say that I have recorded three parts (loops) for as song (verse - chorus - bridge), and I want to use the jm4 as a sampler during a gig. Is there a mode where I can scroll through the presets up/down and then maybe step on another switch to "play" the sample? Having read the manual, to do this live with your feet you have to hit "D" switch 3 times to enter the rec - select mode,choose the recording, then hit EXIT, then play.

You can search through presets using the jog wheel but not with a switch. Scrolling will also kill the loop playback.

The JM4 has fixed cabinet voicing built into all amp models. You can definitely plug directly in to your computers line input with no loss of sound quality.

the card sot works fine but it isn't accessible on the fly, you can only use it to transfer to and from retrospectively
