From a long time fan, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. Your basic premise was one I've been pondering a lot recently. It actually excites me to think about what a unique period in human history we are living. Technology of our own design is enabling a collective intelligence upon which such innovative problem solving capacity you are describing can be based.
Thanks for "Earth"!! It stoked my desire for Netizenry. It gives hope that we can beat our era's risks and take hold of the biggest opportunity for prosperity in the last 500 years. Like you, I have stopped chastising a long time ago. I take the approach, "Pssst...I have a secret. You are missing out on the greatest economic opportunity in a while. Green equals green$" See opportunity rather than oblivion, you may be wealthy. Keep spreading the opportunity message with reason and clarity.
What we need is the most savage criticism of greed, and lust for power. The stock market, the SEC, and those outrageous hedge fund organizations need this savage criticism to make them never forget that "Grandma's savings" are what the stock market is built on. Hedge funds exploiting loopholes in the stock market and the SEC turning a blind eye to it in the beginning only lead to the system standing on the brink of collapse.
That is very interesting! That the use of the atomic bomb caused a global shock to the system, causing us to more fully evaluate the cost of our decisions individually and as nations. Turning over the cargo rather than simply moving the furniture around. That we humans tend to use new things immediately and often is something I've thought about for years. Interesting analogy that we were burned and took another look. I'm also optimistic because I feel the look was long enough.
