  • have the LP well worn very well worn and still PLAYED

  • this is superb

  • I dont understand the latin but the music is fanominal.gs

  • Great album. I have it on vinyl and it sounds like an cathedral on my Thorens TD150 turntable - loud and stately ! So beautifully recorded! Thanks for putting it upon the Tube of You ! Clever ! So it's now 'Mass in E minor'? he he !

  • have been trying to find the entire Mass in F Minor but unable to pick up just the pieces. Was a true liberation of the sixties

  • I don't think the exploration of religeous musical artifact is for any other purpose than to jar the tripped out listener to consider their Christian roots as part of the spiritual journey to psychedelia. As if to say, remember this, look how far you've journeyed to this cosmic moment of conciousness. Or maybe they ran out of material, I dunno'.

  • I'd like to find a copy of the original Mass in F Minor original reeased in the 60's. Can anyboy help?

  • I bought this album in May 1968 when I was 13. This one (Agnus Dei), Gloria and Sanctus are my faves on a great recording. Thanks for posting!

  • Fantastic album of my teen years! Impossible to buy it again and my LP is almost unaudible! ;( Thank you a thousand times!!!

  • @carloccone It is available in amazon both new vinyl & CD

  • surely this should be 'agnus dei' .... angus dei makes it sound like a scottish saint or something ....

  • en ese año pink floyd aun no alcanzaba este nivel; es una gran obra!

  • this came out the same year i got married.

  • I'm surprised this hasn't been sampled in any rap songs. It's great!

  • @poklar I'm chopping it as we speak ;)

  • @isolateslowfaults That's what I'm talking about! My man, keep me posted.

  • mass in f minor, a step ahead of time for rock music,

  • My uncle playd the drums

  • maybe someone else noted this discrepancy - It's Agnus Dei. "Lamb of God" ... they way it is spelled here says something more like "Cow of God"... and this is a Catholic Tridentine Mass, not Hindu ;)

  • i dont believe in god but this is a good album

  • Apart from I had too much to dream and Get me to the world I only have one other track and that is (I think) Gloria but I can't find it on youtube! Guitar work sound similar to Jorma Kaukonen (Airplane) in his early days.

  • I was looking for some of their songs I remember from when I was 10 years old. I don't recall this track, but very impressive. Many bands from Italy and England did some excellent church influenced rock, but this precedes them by a couple of years. Now how about getting Antique Doll and Big City on YouTube : ).

  • i just lve the feedback guitars on this track, idont care if it was meant to be religious or not!!

  • This is called Agnus Dei ( Lamb of God ) not Angus. Unless of course it's Scottish. Lol

  • @suzek55 Angus Dei=Cow of God.

  • @Anglagard1 Ha ha , nice one

  • esse som é do karalho!!!

  • Can we consider this as one of the very first Christian Rock?

  • yeah - Christian + LSD

  • absoulutly !

  • maybe so, but I have never heard any Christian rock that is this good. Christian rock usually just copies what's popular and adds religious lyrics and iconography (at least from what I've heard). This is truly experimental and unique, Christian or not.

  • I guess you're right. This is definetely Christian LSD as somebody else mentioned, maybe psychedelia becomes a religious experience at times

  • no! this mass put to acid.

  • @319wclarion agnus dei dona nobis pa achem

  • To people today, a rock adaptation of the Catholic Mass would seem ludicrous. However, though most people in todays schools would have trouble believing it, such traditional Catholics as J.R.R. Tolkien and Dorothy Day were heroes to the Beats and Hippies. It was the individualism (radical and total egalitarianism) inherent in punk in the late 1970s that turned the counterculture radically against traditional religion

  • @guodade Two of my heroes as well.

  • @guodade

That's an interesting observation. The irony is that the irreligious counterculture has been largely taken over by collectivist/statist thinking, and all the conservatives are embracing Ayn Rand. Tempus fugit.

  • this is my favorite album of catholic rock ever.the electric prunes rule the 60s on pych rock

  • I love it!

  • somewhere in a pile of cassettes, i have the whole album. i'm just now ready to dump my vinyls, many of which i copied onto cassettes. this being one of them. if i knew how, i would be glad to upload this. at this point i am clueless as to how to do that. but i'm a fast learner..

  • I guess WMG doesn't anyone to hear their music so they just keep it on the shelf collecting dust.

  • Hello, ty of course for this video. I just posted a clip made by a french TV but Warner as removed it!!! I really don't understand. F*** WMG!

  • Thanks for posting this...

    A classic "LP" for sure...

Brings back so many memories to me!

  • I have this album on vinyl. Mass in F Minor. It is on CD now. One of a kind piece of music.

  • WOW, just posted today and here I was looking for it!

  • Yeah man, I LOVE this album, and I think it's summed up best on this track as opposed to the Kyrie... (I've been trying for a while to put it up, and then finally came across the 'pitch shift' solution)...

You know, Axelrod only made one other album that sounds remotely like this (release of an oath), do you know of anything else that sounds like this??

  • No, not knowledge that well...

Do you have the Kyrie track?

  • if you ever get a hold of the 'kyrie eleison' track i would love if you could post it-- my daughter kyrie was named for it.

  • do you have the cd of release of an oath

  • Yeah, you can find it free online pretty easily, it is the only other thing slightly like this, but it isn't quite as good...

  • Thanks for posting this, great song and album. Just wondering what do you use to set the song a half step down? Seems pretty useful to get around copyright crap.

  • @4372408 yes the sounds of inoscence and the sounds of experience david axelrod later albums they are great!

  • @4372408 hows about songs of innoscence and david mcallums album [the composer richard yardumian did a mass thats not rock but it sounds like the string part at 1:01 nothing in youtube by yardumian yet ]

  • @4372408 Yes, it is too far ahead of its time, he is influencial......took a while though. I saw the Prunes in the wierdest little venue in Walthamstow, East London 4 years ago, I had no idea what to expect, most gigs of this vintage are a horror show, but these guys were amazing, they were also dressed in what appeared to be the very same clothes they recorded this 60's psyche madness in, which only added to the strange but wonderful experience....and it was only Tuesday!

  • @4372408 ..Yeah really good late sixties psych!
